You’re out of your mind. That thing is dangerous. It was a donation? So some idiot had that huge thing in their home care, where it could have gotten out and gone wherever it chose. These things need at the very least to be registered and licensed. Otherwise confiscated and euthanized. They are not like a dog or cat as a pet. In fact, they’ll eat those pets given the chance. They should be confiscated and outlawed. Florida is already dealing with these things that were supposedly “harmless” while in captivity. There are too many idiots owning these things, and when they start to get beyond their ability to control these morons set them “free” to make their own way in nature. Some critters are too dangerous for private idiots to own. These things are definitely at the top of that list.

Male burmese pythons make great pets in my opinion. They act pretty similar to ball pythons, they just refuse meals much less frequently. Most of them are really laid back, much like ball pythons. Hatchlings can be a tad nervous, but they quickly gain confidence with just a little bit of age and size. So long as you dont overfeed them, many males will stay in the 8-10ft range, which is generally within the limits of what one person can handle by themself. Youve got to be smart about it, but its doable. Ive even seen some adult male burmese pythons who were only in the 6-7ft range! But they were probably fed pretty minimally. They were breeder males, and snake breeders often like to keep their males on the small side so as to save money on feeding costs. But yeah, they make great pets IMO. People tend to assume they all get huge like this one, but thats not really the case. This one here is just extraordinarily large. A big common boa is actually about the same size as your average burmese python. Speaking of which, common boas and red tail boas are great choices too. Carpet pythons are also a solid solid choice if you want something larger than a ball python but smaller than a burmese python. They are generally a bit less laid back, but more fun to handle. Carpet pythons are relatively cheap and readily available in many different localities and morphs (colors and patterns). Check out morphmarket if you dont see any of these species available at your local reptile shop.

No, burmese pythons are typically very laid back. Especially when they are that large. Most giant snakes of any species are generally very predictable and easy to work with, despite what people may hear. The media just brainwashes people into thinking they are monsters. I personally keep Burmese pythons as pets, and have for decades now. They are wonderful pets. Their size is the only reason they arent more popular. In every other sense they are very practical pets. I also keep the equally large Reticulated and African rock pythons. They are amazing and misunderstood too. They do move around a lot more than burmese pythons though. In my opinion that makes them a bit more fun to work with, but I love them all. Snakes in general are very predictable once you know what to look for. Each snake is an individual, but once you know the snake, they are easy to read. Even snakes of this size do not see people as prey. Humans being eaten by snakes is extremely rare. its not a regular occurence, but instead a freak accident. Believe it or not, dogs and even housecats have been recorded eating humans on more occasions than every single species of snake on the planet combined. Its actually not even close.

Its so funny to me that you had to entice her with a rat to get her to eat a rabbit. What would a rat even do for a snake that size? Thats like a potato chip to her. Im surprised she was interested in the smell of rat over a rabbit. My afrock is nowhere near that size but she doesnt even see rats as food anymore. She has never turned down a rabbit, but shes turned down rats literally 10+ times in a row now. At this point I just gave up trying to give her rats and give the rats my ball python doesnt eat to my burms or retics instead. Thats a HUGE burm btw. I believe the official world record for length for burmese pythons is 19ft 1 inch. You should measure her. The world record for weight is a different story though. Im sure youve heard of Baby from serpent safari. I was lucky enough to get to see her when she was alive. She was an absolutely absurd 403lbs and only 18ft 10 inches. She was basically built like an oversized blood python. Obviously she WAS overweight, but she was also clearly much bigger boned than most burms to begin with. So she wore her weight better than you might expect. She lived to be about 28 or 29 if i remember right. Kind of surprising considering her weight issues.
