its not for everyone for sure . was it worth putting the tower on it ? meh! lol really depends on whats best for you . since i also have the 701lr i would be fine without the tower and using a 3gl tank on the 350 .

there is a windshield for the oem plate on taco moto but if you want to go rally tower this one came from nomad-adv in the netherlands. keep in mind they are a small shop and orders are backed up on top of the supply chain issues . it took 9 months to receive the tower . there are other companies you can research such as rade garage, aurora usa and rebelX are some other top manufacturers.

its mentally challenging to ride in the dirt with the tower . the bike handles the same but the tower throws off my sense of where the tire is planted, its just a mental thing i gotta get use to

Nice job 👍🏾 Yeah, turning these bikes into adventure dual sport machines is no joke. Getting the parts takes a lot of time, then making them fit is another ordeal in itself, and don’t get me started on the cost. It’s very expensive to travel cheaply in the wilderness 😂. I have a 2016 and I’ve more in it in parts and upgrades than the cost of the bike. It takes forever to get the parts from Nomad ADV, but I love their parts. What are you doing for bags? I went with the X-Country bags from Mike at Nomad ADV sells and they are great 👍🏾

I’m working on turning my 2017 701 into a light weight ADV bike. I have the pannier rack and Zega Pro aluminum panniers on it. Pretty much everything is done except fuel capacity as I don’t have the LR. I’ll just strap on a 1 gal Rotopax for my trips. I’m getting into it slowly as I’m not sure it’s going to work out. I did ride my 690 to South American in 2016, the only issue I had was the engine failed in Antofagasta Chile.

have you seen the rade garage 1 gallon fuel tank kit ? replaces stock air filter box with 1 gl fuel tank on 690s and 701s

I seen it but I want to keep the stock air box and filter. Had a friend with a 690 that did that mod and he had endless problems with bad venting and fuel boiling. If the 701 doesn’t work out I’ll start looking at the 890/Norden 901. The reason for all this is I’m 72 and on my BMW 1200GS. I’ve lost weight, height and strength over the years and could benefit with a lighter bike.

@@BlackdogADV good point about the fuel kit . im use to light bikes and i find my LR really heavy in comparison to my friends new 690 .

@@BlackdogADV not sure if you know but they are no longer in production. ktm now sells the fuel tank kit to convert to LR . if you have deep pockets Aurora makes some awesome kits also
