pcbcreator goes nice with this instead of the breadboard. I have the status indicators piped to a little LED array. I really really like these project boards because they are well documented. No osscilliscope needed. Note, if you are getting LEDs through this kit please note the resistors that come with it are 220 ohm resistors, (red red brown gold) They ask you to breadboard the photo cell, but selling your indicators off to a prototype pcb that will let you isolate the photocell for accurate readings is a good idea. It looks like john has gotten himself a fresh 1k ohm resistor . My kit came with two 220 ohm ones. fail. You can turn the pins into signal pins for other things as well, related to your network. Very, very useful.

I double checked this at the store.particle.io/ and to clarify -- the Photon I reviewed in this video is just called "Photon with headers" and had no USB cable, it runs $19. For $10 more you can order a Photon kit which comes with the USB cable, a breadboard, and some basic components.

just too expensive (20$USD vs 4$USD) . you can get the esp8266 and esp32 for a way better price.

Here's a source for under just $15. www.ebay.com/itm/Particle-Core-Photon-IoT-Wi-fi-Development-board-particle-io-header-photonh/223502478736 The thick server... barely any client deal with the photon is different and reminds me of all the new software methodologies I just can't buy into. Looking forward to figuring out how to get mine working offline.
