All great habits IMO but I don’t think there is anything wrong with eating alone. I think it can be peaceful and relaxing. It is also a good trait to be able to enjoy ones own company and be happy just being.

I agree. I think there's a big difference between making an active choice to nurture yourself by eating alone in quiet contemplation or reflection, or mindfully - and not taking up the chance to get to know other people who could be really interesting or amusing or educate you, perhaps because you're too shy to speak to them, which is more like a passive choice to be alone. Active choices are going to yield better results, I always think. :-) I also agree with you about it being important to be comfortable with being alone, just being in your own skin.

Maybe there simply needs to be balance. Life is a learning process, so if every single item isn't ticked off the box, that is okay. The key thing is follow-through. Keep your word. Let the results speak for you. How? First, set a goal with A DEADLINE. Involve other people (why do everything by yourself?). Second, break down your goal into small steps, then simply FOLLOW-THROUGH on what you said and wrote you would accomplish. In a week's time, a month's time ANYTHING could happen. But once you accomplish your goal, the surge of confidence to do greater things will feel incredible and propel you forward into becoming the person you were meant to be. That to me is success. Keeping you

For me (depending on the project), planning for 2 days (possibly 3) is enough to where I’m still motivated to start working on the project. If I hit a bump in the road, then I may need to go back and plan a little more, or re-plan some things. But if I stay too long in the planning phase, I’ll get stuck, and never get finished with the project, because I’ll be less motivated, and will find many nit picks that I don’t need to worry about, but do end up worrying about. Basically, balance the planning phase and the actual working phase, but usually do the planning phase shorter than the working phase to stay motivated, and not get nit picky

If there are people who give you the impression they might have depth, and happen to be open for your company, do catch hold of them, cost what it may!! ...And do not retreat behind a newspaper, assuming, that's fine with them too. :D

Great video, but you left out one extremely important mindset habit: Learn, Learn & Learn. Figure out, analyze and understand why things work or behave the way they do, Always keep your mind open to new ideas & concepts, even if you don't agree with them or wish to pursue them for yourself - you always need to understand the other person's point of view as well as champion your own. In this way you can formulate your own successful strategies in life thru interacting with others. I'd like to submit the above paragraph as success principle #20, which evens the list out as a nice even number. 😄👍

1:22 But what if you lose friends/relationships because you live in a culture that values apathy and mediocrity and people ditch you when you have ambition and start to be on the path to success? I come from a former communist country where to this day it's common to hate on whoever rises above the average. It happened to me more than once and one person literally told me I give her inferiority complexes because I actually do something with my life. I don't get it, I always thought that the more I follow my dreams/goals and the happier I am, it'll inspire others to do the same for themselves. I never pushed my small successes down people's throats or told them how to live their own lives but of course I bring up my passions in conversations. It pains me to lose very old friendships and see people unhappy with their lives but unwilling to do anything about it. Don't get me wrong, it's totally ok for someone to not have big goals and ambition IF that's what makes them happy, but it's clearly not making them happy if an old friend who does makes them uncomfortable to the point of ending the friendship. Don't say "you need better friends", I tend to agree but 1, it's not that easy to build super close friendships as an adult and 2, I genuinely liked the old ones as people, regardless of how much or how little they achieve in life.
@sblijheid

The way to the top is a lonely road. You have to learn to let people go. If you want to be successful, people who want to be below mediocre should not be your friend. Make the decision, however hard, to say good bye. You won't regret it. In business you'll have to make hard decisions constantly, practice by letting go of unprofitable people.
@galaxylucia1898

Losing people that you care about is really hard, Andreea. However, in the LONG RUN, it will not help your spirit or emotional/mental well-being to be around toxic people who don't wish the best for you. You don't necessarily have to cast off every single person every time you set to accomplish a new goal or make small changes in your life. I think a way to interpret the video's advice is that for select areas where you want to make changes or achieve things, find someone who can help you by mentoring you or simply encouraging you. If you wanted to get better at marketing or accounting for a small business, who would you go to for advice: your cousin who has no knowledge about the subject and is focused in a completely different job field or an actual accountant or marketing exec? You'll find your soul tribe one day. But evaluate people on a case-by-case basis. You can love from a distance and that's ok!!

I know what you mean. Sometimes I think I understand where they're coming from. Your actions show people their own fears and they respond by making you into the "bad guy". People don't appreciate being shown they're not living up to their own perceived potential. You can't control other people's reactions - what you can do, however, is recognise that these events are just another form of resistance to you living your own life as you see fit.

Great video! One piece of advice I think is consistent and essential with this vid is to focus on your systems, not your goals. Many people begin the process of changing their habits by focusing on WHAT they want to achieve. This leads to outcome based habits. The alternative (and real "goal" to habit change) is to build identity-based habits. With this approach we start to focus on WHO we wish to become.

Good tips. But I never really understood the idea of "surround yourself with people who represent what you ultimately want to become." I mean, I think it's a good idea if it were possible, but I don't see how successful people would want to spend time with random unsuccessful people. I don't personally know anyone I want to be like. If I sent a message to someone successful and said, "Hey, can I buy you lunch?" they would probably think I'm a stalker or trying to beg for money or something. I know if someone asked to hang out with me, I'd wonder what sort of scam they're running.

Many good suggestions. The only thing I take issue with is the statement to never eat alone. This does not take into account introverts, who may need that break in the middle of the day to pull back from social interaction in order to refuel. We are not all the same, and should know and respect our individual needs. Still, the video provides lots of ways to examine our own lives for ways to improve and reach our goals.
