I work for a trucking company. We actually were just selected as one of the companies to start doing a training program for 18 year olds to go over the road. Alot of opportunities coming along in this industry that is for sure! great interview. I do want to say there is a reason it pays so well there are sacrifices with this career and as long as you are ok with that you can make a great living.

@@JordanJank Don't be jealous. He is giving other people a 'road map' of how it can be done and what pitfalls to look out for. If I was 20-25 and not 68, looking to start my own trucking operation, I would very much value what this young man is saying so that I can avoid expensive mistakes and know how to navigate when I hit a rough patch that ALL businesses have at some point. Clearly his parents recognize that he will not squander the money and will be successful in his endeavors. He is proving them right.

Not to take anything away from this young mans hustle, it definitelt took hard work. If you bough a truck in 2019, and drove it from then until 2022, consistenly, you did great. Loads were plentiful, The demand was super high. That will not be the same result for people buying trucks right now.

I definitely call BS, he didn't start from nothing. Parents are probably filthy rich. He reminds me of a 20 year old guy in Florida that I started working for, the guy had this huge lawn- landscaping business, I mean he had so many trucks, mowers, high dollar equipment and not to mention he was a straight up prick. He tried to act like he knew it all and started from nothing. But from somebody like me that was in lawn care almost 10 years it was clear he didn't start the business from the ground up. Come to find out his rich grandparents had basically bought him all the equipment and he had only done it maybe a year if that and it showed big time.

After 21st successful years of running my own Trucking company and making millions I can say this video is on point. Strating a Trucking company is not an easy task, you need a lot of paperwork, knowledge and large understanding to run the business. I can say the basic problem to start a trucking business is capital. To get started with Trucking business you need a large sum of money as your working capital and a minimum of $50,000 in your maintenance account before making you final decision of joining the business because anything can go wrong anything, and you have to be prepared for it. But do you know you can get a governmental Grant of over $300,000 to start a trucking business. I came to know about this few years ago and it has been helped my company a lot. I get a governmental grant support every six months. Getting a Governmental Grant should be your first motive before proceeding to join the business. I wish every Trucker out there a successful and profitable business Week.

That’s good but how much did you retire with ? Think your business would stand up to different more stringent regulations nowadays ? Can’t cheat the system with paper logs anymore . Plus your working with a bad economy now plus a covid economy no matter how much people want to deny it. I’m a fleet owner myself. I’m very sharp in this business and it’s very very hard nowadays to run good numbers. The freight rates have dropped significantly and it’s extremely competitive . Broker rates are cut throat and payoffs to get those “sweet loads “ from the brokers are high. Too much expense too much regs to barley break even now. A lot has changed since the 80s. But good for you that it worked out for you. I’d like to see this kids numbers. I don’t think he may be doing well as he says he does. It’s alot of fast talking. Hope he doesn’t get married someday . This video is spot on and amazing to see people my age doing this as well. My biggest struggle was finding drivers at first but now I have many interested and no trucks anywhere for a decent price. Covid prices on trucks are still here and rates are low with high diesel prices. Anybody looking to get started I’d encourage you, I started with a 500k mile fleet owned Volvo that cost me 35k. Won’t get those prices any more but heres the takeaway. Stay under 500k miles so you still have a warranty(make sure you do). Make some money on that truck and don’t screw people over and be cheap on repairs. Drivers come and go but treat everyone right along with your trucks and you’ll retire early! Just my two cents

Something is fishy - notice how they gloss over the "how did you get started" part and jump into other data. When he said "Insurance is your biggest cost, I spend $100k on insurance a yr" most people would be like "Ok hold up. How the f*** did you get that kind of money to start with?" Clearly the kid had help. He mentioned his friend who had a trucking business. I guarantee you his friends family helped set this kid up or he had a wealthy parent to guarantee things like loans and/or insurance. Total start up costs were likely well over $200k and 19 yr olds don't have that lying around from running a paper route. Also how did he get loads? FROM HIS FRIEND - who was likely going through and expansion. Sure the kid had to work hard to realize the full potential of all that help but come on.....no one starts a biz like this and jumps to making $150/mo in revenue.......this is just like so many self-help books on the market. They tell a great story that's impossible for most to repeat because they don't have the same backing and/or opportunities.

This is an awesome video! Its almost as good as the time my dads millionaire boss told him to ask him whenever he wants to be a millionaire. On my dads 40th birthday, he felt ready for his advice. After a long story of how you work here then do this and that, his finale was that his rich friends dad offered his friend a buisness, but his friend didn't want it, so he gave it to my dads boss. I'm concerned with how many of you actually believe a 19 year old is a self made millionaire 😐 a 19 year old. You legally can't even work until 16 and you honestly believe a 16 year old was able to make tens of thousands of dollars within 3 years and have a full blown company by 19 making 100k a month. If your answer is "yes" then you don't know how impossible that actually is even if he somehow was mentally mature enough to build an entire business between the age of 16-19 (which is psychologically impossible) he wouldn't be making no more than $8/hourly working a minimum wage job for at least 2 years and that's less than 20k a year if he didn't spend a single dollar he made for all that time.

OK.... He claims his drivers earn "$2,800-$3,200 per week @ $.50-$.70 per mile, aight... Let's break this down... Even at seventy cents ($.70) per mile a $3,200 week means the driver put in roughly FOUR THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED miles, are you still with me...? Now let's look at the fact a driver is allowed 70 hours to be on duty in an 8 day period BY DOT LAW, still with me...? You must have a 30 minute break every 8 hours, a minimum of a 15 minute ON DUTY pre-trip and post-trip inspection, plus time to fuel no less than 15 minutes which could be part of your 30 minute break every 8 hours, still with me? So OK 70 hours/8 hours = roughly nine 30 minute breaks and 30 minutes of pre and post trips per day x 7 days = 3.5 hours, so now out of that 70 hours available to work, it is cut by oh let's say 4.5+3.5 = 8 hours leaving you 62 hours available to drive in an 8 day period before you need a mandatory 34 hour reset (consecutive rest break), still with me? Wait! That doesn’t take into account loading, unloading, securing a load, picking/dropping a trailer, how does that happen, magic? SO back to the 4,600 miles his driver ran to make the "claimed" $3,200 in a week. That would mean his driver "AVERAGED" SEVENTY FOUR MILES PER HOUR for every minute he drove... This kid is soooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOooooo FULL OF SHIT my head hurts... Math is hard, it's not for everyone LOL 😜
