The Ottoman First Suez Canal Operation was a military campaign that took place in 1915 during World War I. Initiated by the Ottoman Empire with the aim of capturing the Suez Canal, the primary objective of the operation was to disrupt the communication line between the British and their territories in India and the Far East. Following the rebellion led by Sharif Hussein in Mecca, the Ottoman army launched an attack against British forces in Egypt. Although the Ottoman forces reached the Canal, they were unable to breach the British defenses. As a result, the Ottoman forces were forced to retreat, and the operation ended in failure. This campaign was part of the Ottoman Empire's efforts to achieve its strategic goals in the Middle East and influenced the course of the war in this region.
