This Gilbert clock I was lucky enough to get for pennies. A GW online auction, I forgot to bid and nobody bid on the clock as well. To my surprise, the clock came back on for bid and they changed the shipping to $9.99 and buy it now. SO I DID. The clock came from Florida and was shipped to Washington State. I only wanted the clock because I liked the hinges on the door. After getting into the clock, I found that the movement said "G", a Wm L Gilbert Clock with the stamp on top of the case, 906. This movement was made in 1915 but I can't find this clock on the internet so I could see what the finals looked like that were missing.
I took the movement apart all the way and cleaned all the gears. I also used 0000 steel wool to scuff the finish on the box because of crazing. The clock makes me happy.

Here I do most of my work on clocks. Mainly cuckoo clocks, yet I am always looking for the unusual and eye catching clocks. Some of the clocks I get into are ones that need saved from the dump. They fell off the wall from not securing the clock to the wall using the stud behind the sheetrock. Some of the clocks were laid to rest out in the garage or barn and I except the challenge of getting them back together again.
A well loved clock at one time is one that has a lot of wear and you find old bushings that might need to be replaced.
