With the right director and if my script ever gets picked up by a studio, Deakins would be my first choice for DP with Lubezki a close second.

On an technical level, _1917_ deserved this award. On an aesthetic level, however, _The Lighthouse_ should have won. I have to be perfectly honest, I would have given it to _The Lighthouse_ for its sheer atmospheric prowess, but it's hard not to give credit to any cinematographer who can make the one-shot work (especially if it's Roger Deakins - his work on _The Man Who Wasn't There_ and _Blade Runner 2049_ still blows me away to this day).

If there was a sixth and spot at the Oscars for Best Cinematography, Little Women and Parasite could have got a nomination in that category.
