Comisky is the one who should have gotten the lifetime ban. The reserve clause would last until 1973. Free agency and collective bargaining would give the talent the power they deserved. Nice post.

A lot of people don't know that the white sox with the soon-to-be banned guys played a whole other year in 1920 before they were kicked out of baseball.

she fails to mention Jackson claimed innocence and signed a confession because he couldn't read. they said Jackson gave up to many triples to Lett although the official scorecards show no triples to left. Jackson hit .375 with 12 hits it was a record that stood until 1964 for the world series. along with the series only homerun for both teams. he also committed no errors in the series and his lifetime batting average was .356. ty Cobb called him the greatest natural hitter in the game. babe Ruth copied his swing. it was said left field is where triples went to die. so I want to know who is going to dispute me. when 7 of the 8 later said Jackson was innocent. Jackson knew of the fix went to tell comiskey and he didn't want to hear it. new evidence surfaced substantiating the claims of evidence, that the u.s house of Representatives wanted the case to be re heard by major league baseball and got denied by major league baseball. the new commissioner just says oh he stands by Landis decision and nothing more can be done. to me that is an excuse for he read nothing and is more concerned with making millions.

8 players did not conspire. 7 did. Buck Weaver took no part in the fix. He refused to take part, and because he didn't rat them out he was banned, but people difn't do that sort of thing to friends and associates. You could atgue that others on the team HAD to know there was a fix. but they said nothing as well. In my opinion , Weaver got screwed

if I Was on that team and Comiskey had treated me like he did his players with money I'd be Conspirating to this Conspiracy was not on those players Charlie Comiskey has no one to blame but himself for how cheap he was...

To this day, I do not understand why Joe Jackson is not in the HOF. Surely he was a victim of circumstances.

Why was Cincinnati such a heavy favorite in the Series? The Reds won the National League in 1919 by 9 games with 96 victories while the Sox won the American League by only 3.5 games with only 88 victories. The Sox were much better offensively than the Reds (scoring 90 more runs) but the Reds allowed 133 fewer runs than the Sox. I can only think of two reasons. First, the Sox had bigger stars such as Joe Jackson and Eddie Collins. Second, the American League may have been perceived as the stronger league because the AL had won every World Series except one going back to 1910.

Nice video. Has anyone read the book "Turning the Black Sox White: The Misunderstood Legacy Of Charles Comiskey"? According to the author Charles Comiskey was anything but a frugal owner who didn't treat his teammates well. It's an interesting read. It's written by Tim Hornbaker and can be ordered on Amazon.

This is a really nice video and Whitney deserves a lot of credit for it. I was really impressed with it. However, I wonder how much of the information came from Asinof's Eight Men Out.
