Thank you for uploading this. I came here because of the old song "Peg and Awl." by the Carolina Tar Heels.

Personally feel that this is still THE proper way of making a pair of shoes. Good year welt construction existed since the 1400s where pig bristles were used as thread, like everything in clothing I have came to realise that past methods always triumphs the more current mass produced methods.

Boar wristles were not used as thread but as a sort of needle to permit threading the actual stitching cord through the holes. The boar bristles were rubbed with resin and the waxed flax or linen thread was attached to it and pulled through the holes to complete the stitches.

Wood nails, instead the regular ones. Now i understand about the german ww2 boot soles, they weren't sewed like the American ones. They where woodnailed and glued. Btw,it was GLUE? Hot Glue? Or like that thing used in asphalt..mmm. Brea? I see the glue in black.....maybe i'm wrong

Do you think they can make a pair of shoes smaller or somehow remake them smaller with the right about of leather please let me know I need to find a place please let me know to make it easier I bought an 11.5 and I am 10.5 they sold me the wrong size and it was too late for me to return them because I live away from where I bought them

@@KC-ld6el I am by no means an expert on the matter, but I am pretty sure that proper welted/ blake stitched shoes can in fact be relasted i.e. made in to your correct size. You just need a cobbler who would be able to do that. Best way is to just ask. I would suggest to start looking for one who also makes shoes themselves or who repairs welted shoes.
