What a great parade piece! I was born in 1949. I remember as a kid growing up, seeing these pickups around our town. Alot of factory workers around here also had beef and milk cattle farms. They would bring their full milk jugs to the Carnation plant on the way to work at the furniture and textile factories. Thanks for the memories.

You have to love the first generation f series. Me and my father rebuilt a 49 completely original when I was growing up. The thing still runs like a champ.

My dad had a 49 F1 in red. I never drove it but my Uncle his brother had a 51 F1 that was much the same and we had a 49 F6 that I drove many miles and hauled a lot of Tobacco, Peanuts, and Corn (and logs). They were good trucks but needed complete overhaul after about 60 to 70 thousand miles. The F6 would work hard pulling a full load out of the field . . . and then up and down hill to market.

I always liked that series truck, just as much as the late 50's style!! What is the hole in the bottom of the grill!! Looks kinda small for a crank start!!☺

That really was still a hole for the crank start.

really like that one Jeff.. we used to use bicycle inner tubes to cover those chains. lol I like that they used a more plain cut of wood for the bed.. it matches the truck a lot better than some shinny birds eye maple. haha..

I have my Granddad's 1949 Ford F3 pickup with a flathead 239 V8 that I put into it. Since I was run over by a car while I was walking across the street, I haven't done anything with it. I need to redo the electrical system, so any thoughts on converting it over to a 12 volt system would be appreciated. Thanks. Court.

Wow. Amazing how much room is in that engine bay. I could almost climb inside the thing. These new cars...psshh...you can barely put your hand anywhere. I might get one of these trucks one of these days.

Very beautiful truck. I love the Ford print color on the tailgate as well as the entirety of the grill / front end. The running boards and wood in the bed definitely aren't showy which gives the truck a little more of a utility feel.
