These cars are fairly common in Australia,if you start searching.Parked up on old farms.I have one that I last registered in '83.I think its a '50 model. Its quite an experience to drive one on the open highway as flat out speed is about 45-50 mph.But they are very light and will go places heavier utes wont.

It is a shame that the programme is more about the presenter than the vehicle. Whilst the result is a well turned out restoration, anyone watching will have no clue as to the actual work involved with carrying out a restoration on an 80" Land Rover. When the guy was talking about the engine rebuild, the presenter talks over him, dumbing down the programme so as to give no technical information whatsoever. In my opinion a great shame and wasted opportunity - maybe people would enjoy some genuine technical stuff?

Yes agree a lot of the technical stuff is left out and you really only see the finished product, love or hate wheeler dealers it did show you the bits most enthusiasts wanted to see

1. Air in tyres 2. Check engine oil 3. Check coolant level 4. Add battery 5. Fill fuel tank 6. Fill carburettor Choke Start. Drive out of barn. But what did they do ?

The very first few Series 1s had green chassis. Their original badges, not as oval as later modules with the country of origin added, was flatter and painted green and gold/yellow. The one's with Birmingham on, was later Series1's, just aluminium with black background and "four wheel station wagon" was added as a loose badge underneath... The indicators was never built into the fenders, even here in Africa... It must have been a "home made job" by the previous owner... Trafficators ( little long black boxes with a swing out arm ) was sold as an optional extra, and get fixed to the windscreen frame... 🇿🇦

Doesn't change for Africa market... Chassis colour original green for a few years, badges painted for a few years, never had those indicators built in.. Home job.

Not to take away from Ant's skills but this presentation is very similar to what Mike Brewer and Discovery Channel wanted to do with the new Wheeler Dealers format - less details related to the actual restoration. This is what drove Edd away from the show.... I'm sure Ant probably did the restoration but there's no proof because only a fraction of the restoration was actually videotaped. I wish the producers of this show success but it's not my cup of tea.
