Classic veteran EMD, got to love that Beer Keg control stand in the "B" class. Back when they built the "B" class EMD in the USA thought Australians a little "odd' in requesting a double ended cab...Great video Adam.

They also were at first dead set against VR's requirment of a 3 motor bogie but then after developing a bogie for the B class quickly realised the advantages it had and put it on their locos to make the SD7

I hope SSR or others keep these engines going forever. Such a great piece of Victorian design, engineering and manufacturing. Hands down the best design of any streamliner or EMD loco, anywhere.

Ill be blunt yalls rail scene is like a time warp to the 1970s, 80s and 90s in terms of american railroading because there was still a good vairiety of 1st and 2nd gen disels all over the place, they didn't disappear until the mid 90s, early 2000s and yet even now some are still hauling freight over here on occasion :). Truly a testiment to the men who designed and built them. You truly dont get this good quality from EMD anymore period

I'm at my most happy (which still isn't very happy) when I see our good Victorian broad gauge locomotives running on broad gauge where they're bloody well supposed to be. Putting them on standard gauge is akin to a pseudo hipster owning a Blue Heeler in a terrace house in Clifton Hill. *uck standard gauge!! signed: A Gunzel.

3:55 Ah, Tourello. I had an ancestor who apparently died at the station that used to be at that crossing, apparently the family had gone to the station to catch a train into the city and realised they'd forgotten an important letter, so the ancestor grabbed a bike and rode to the house and back like the devil was on his tail only to collapse and die from sheer exhaustion when he got back to the station.

Victorian railways are antiquated for sure with badly maintained tracks and aging rolling stock, but it's amazing that technology this old is still in regular use, this locomotive must have done a massive number of miles since new! A shame it no longer has a Leslie horn on it.

I'm testing my memory here. Was it B61 that was named after Harrold W Clapp? I don't know why but when I was much younger I used to get excited whenever I saw it trundle past my home on the Geelong line, I have no idea who Harrold was or why he was honoured in that way!! Enjoyed the video, thank you.
