So look man... I have to say, that in the last month since I've found restoration videos, It's been crystal clear that *My Mechanics* is the absolute Gold Standard for camera work, attention to detail, holding each part to the camera, taking care when disassembling and reassembling, filing to get rid of casting marks, and the way the entire process is edited (in video) and put together... But then here you are, with a mind boggling 6.25K subscribers? I say that, because there has to be upwards of 100 channels on KZitem doing restorations. And _NO ONE, has even come close to taking as much care, and showing precise attention to detail, filing, sanding, and so on,_ (meaning in comparison to My Mechanics) - *Aside from YOU!* You're the ONLY one that's I've come across that is that good, and that I sat and watched the entire video from the moment I clicked on it, and thought 'yeah, I finally found another channel doing it right'. Don't get me wrong, there are some other channels that do 'good' work, but no one files and sands the castings on Vices, and misc restorations, many don't sandblast, most don't use primer for some odd reason, and no one takes that extra second or two with every single part, showing it to the camera, rotating it, pointing out flaws or what's going to be fixed, and putting that info on screen, really taking time with how the video is put together along with what you actually accomplish with your hands on the restorations; so that it can be properly appreciated. I can honestly say, after I got through this video, and went to subscribe, I was shocked you didn't have 900k to 1.1m subscribers; your work is THAT good. You've gained a subscriber for life, and I turned on "ALL" notifications. Superbly well done! And I haven't checked how many videos you have posted yet on your channel, but you can count on me binging on your content until I watch them all lol! :) Cheers, -H.B.

I really like the little Shop King vises. Imagine, a shop tool with actually artistic style! While the quality of today's tools (most of them, anyway) can't be assailed, there's simply no visual presence to them. I love that you took the time to freshen this one up.

I inadvertently found your channel and stopped to watch because I had the same experience as you regarding this vise. Awhile back, approximately two weeks ago, I saw one like this with all the original parts. I really liked the retro design and general beauty of the tool. I purchased it with the intent of restoring it as you did. I just received it last week. Your work on this piece was exceptional and you should be proud of the end result. A functional work of art that can be used for another 60-70 years and beyond. As for all the negative comments, just disregard them. First off it’s your tool to do with as you wish. Second I agree that you have brought this vise to what the original designer envisioned on the drawing board. Finally, throughout history tool owners have modified their tools to suit their needs and taste. For someone to criticize you as they did has disrespected you and your extraordinary effort to provide them with entertainment and inspiration. If they didn’t care for it just move on. Congrats on the great work and thanks for the inspiration. You earned another subscriber. Take care and keep the projects coming.

Great Video and beautiful work! Be careful when digitally videoing welding, it can fry a camera's sensor. There are certain lens filters to stop this. I have also heard you can use a welding mask in front of the lens, but I have never tried that. Thanks for the content!
@PegasusProjects
5 жыл бұрын
Thank you I did not know that. I’ll look at some filters and see how the welding helmet works first.
@jamesburnidge3121
5 жыл бұрын
I should add to this because there is conflicting theory about welding affecting camera sensors. To clarify, welding can damage a sensor with prolonged exposure. With continued/repeated recordings, the sensor will sustain damage over time. Depending on the length of the shooting, camera, and intensity of light, you can blitz a camera sensor to fritz. The static/noise seen in the video during the weld is the digital sensor being over worked. It cannot process the information, thus, static. The more welding you shoot, the more of this static will appear---even in regular to low light level situations. A filter of some kind (ND filter) should allow the whole picture to be seen without artifacts appearing and prevent spot damage. I wanted to add this information, as my original comment reads like, "Weld + shoot = instant dead camera." It definitely can with an intense enough light source, but it is more of a matter of sustaining damage over time.

Fantastic job on the restoration, the detail you took to revamp every single part was amazing, my only suggestion would have been to knurl the vice jaw plates, for better grip on materials, the shiny smooth surface would hold objects too well. Unless your plan was a resto for show then it's great.
