Your real good a shooting the work, sounds good ( you said you have head set) always lite up & not in the dark , and the content is everything a person needs to know doing a allis B tranny. You must be redoing the whole tractor, I take it. I see the final drive just came up I'll save that for another day. I have a Allis B, I bought at an auction not running, for $600. with a magneto. I didn't know what I was getting myself into, I should of stopped bidding at $500. hadn't been run for a decade. I tried many times never got it to pop even once. So now i'm watching videos, on tractor owners repairing old tractors. I did buy 2 diff. allis B carb kits, each one the float would stick with new parts from allis chalmers dealer in town. brought carb to a different dealer they got it to, not stick charged me $150. dollars said he had to keep sanding it, and keep getting finer and finer grit I'm guessing he must of been up to 1000 grit. I put a canvas tarp over it ,now years went by looking to get back on it again. watching other people have fun working on their B allis chalmers makes me want to get the cobwebs off of mine I've never drove it, or new anybody that had a B Allis start again on it Mine is S/N 59,728 ----- 1942 / noticed jacking up the rear no good flat spot to jack

Thanks, before I started this last year I was watching vids but could not find any with a lot of detail. That's when I decided to make my own. I have the camera (cell phone) in a ring light so it's bright enough. It's a pain to work around for sure and filming makes the project take 3 times as long but it will be fun to look back on. Unfortunately I rebuilt the carb and Mag before I decided to film the process. I have a spare mag I might build later on on video. I'm removing every bolt so I guess it's a real full restoration. Have 20 something videos at this point so far. Thanks for the subscription! 600 is a good price for a complete tractor. I paid 600 for a parts tractor missing some engine parts and had to drive 500 miles to get it. But I'm in florida, they are harder to find down here.

According to the manual there is a cork plug at the end of the reverse idler shaft. Mine is missing. Probably blew it out not knowing. Do you have an idea of what I might use?
@JPN76

Mine was in good shape so I left it. If I was you I would just clean it well. And plug the end with RTV about 1/4 inch deep. There is no pressure so that should hold.

not sure how i got so lucky finding your videos but working on a 41 c with exact problem main shaft way loose also exploded the bearing in the pto from the play... my pto worked but tractor wouldn't move in gear???? not sure i dont have another issue yet .great videos and I would be concerned on the aluminum spacer....how much material was left after you turned it down??
@JPN76

On the thiner center section About 1/8th inch, maybe a tad more. There is no real crushing load on this part but still. The good thing is the part that may wear is the thicker parts . I'm debating changing it but this tractor is for show now so probably doesn't matter much.

Sir, A few questions: 1. As this is well past the video date, and If you have it back together, is that spacer. holding up well? Is there a better material to use such as brass/bronze? I have mine apart in major assemblies I have not checked real hard but I do not. think that mine has any looseness 2. Any suggestions to keep me from assembling and disassembling several times? I frustrate easily at times and have had a tendency lately to just give up, the need for shims etc and test fitting is fine, it is the I forgot this or to do that or not having things in the correct position. that gets me 3. is there anything to do with the torque tube? is that a upcoming video? If so then it can wait on that. 4. lastly, Is the a good order to do this in? meaning transmission housing first then the tube and then the pto... Thank you I really appreciate the videos and straight answers you have given me.

1. The spacer would probably be better to be steel. But with the aluminum I used it is probably better than the thin sheet metal split spacers that was in it. There is not much real load on it so it's probably fine. I actually assembled this 2 days before the upload so not close to testing it out yet. It's holding up well sitting on the stand. Lol 2. Well there is no step by step but be sure to install the idler gear first unlike me and in the proper orientation. Take pics as it comes apart and lay them out in order before you start assembly. 3. As far as the torque tube I just drug it out of the pile. Going to go through it soon. Didn't plan on a video but I think I'll add one due to the clutch fork assembly etc.. 4. My order is all over the place. It was mostly based on when I have parts available but trans and PTO I would do semi together to seal it up and complete that unit. I'm going to start my PTO next once I fix the Diff. Hope this helps.

Still rewatching, I realize you will do a video on the differential, but in your disassembly of everything did you write down bearing numbers even though you use the parts tractor bearings?
@JPN76

No but if you need numbers I can dig up the numbers off my parts laying around.

@@JPN76 I am just getting started, So I don't think it will be needed. I only pulled off a carrier bearing side and the outer race was pitted up, will get to the rest soon, and then the extra rear after that. Like you I will want to keep pieces from inside together if at all possible. Just was curious as you are a front runner of this, and not sure if you had done that or not. 👍

@@JPN76 Oh No! Are you doing better? I was thinking last night at work that maybe you could do a video of the parts like seal and bearing numbers if available, even though you did seals in each video. But if you are ailing than I would much rather that you get well so your followers can see you shining face on more videos!

Do you grease your bearings before installing?

Lightly so it doesn't rust while waiting for the day gear oil touches it again.

My apologies if I came across as rude on the questions or on the reverse idler. I know you do things like this for a living, so I guess I am asking what is your technique at that. I think that the pictures would be very handy, thanks! I need to do so repairs in my garage then I want to make a stand for components so that when I am done with them I could put them on the stand and it would keep everything at curb height and I could still keep them separate.

Sir you have never sounded rude in your comments. As for my technique I guess I don't really have one. Atleast not a conscious effort. As for me doing this for a living it is mostly habit and on my normal day to day they are not apart for months and it's mostly memory. These days I usually don't have to even keep track of bolts just throw them in a pile. I'm always asked "how do you remeber where it goes" I'm not sure how i just do.
