Stan the Man great finding this game I think he is the only NON Brooklyn sports celeb to be honored in Brooklyn sports HOF. Stan would say years later he was most proud of being given this award more then any other what a class act he was
Vin Scully sounded exactly the same during the pre-game ceremony at the 2017 World Series. It's interesting that the Brooklyn fans gave a warm welcome to visiting player Stan Musial; they were the ones who gave him the nickname "The Man." "Young Don Drysdale" pitching and Roy Campanella catching for the Dodgers,

Yeah it was a game in Ebbets Field a double header Musial hit five home runs, Fan made the remark here comes that man again that’s now the name came about. Musial killed the Dodgers at Ebbets Field.

Icabod Crane caught in a rundown. Vin is the best. That third inning was a great example of how good baseball on the radio could be.

This game features two of my Cardinals favorites growing up in St. Louis. Stan Musial and Ken Boyer. Great hearing Vin Scully.

I remember Ken Boyer as a third baseman (like his brother Clete). I didn't know he once played center field,

Harry Caray seemed to think whatever Ken Boyer did wasn't enough.

36:25 Set aside 18 minutes of your day to listen to the bottom of the third inning. A verbal masterpiece by Vin Scully, so well described that you can picture it vividly, with not a word wasted or a syllable misplaced. And he still had 59 years of baseball to narrate! Simply marvelous.

Vin Scully calling a Stan Musial single against Don Drysdale at Ebbets Field. I only wish that I was born a few years earlier at Beth El hospital on Linden Blvd so that I could have purchased a ticket to one of those empty seats in Left Field.

The Dodgers had slipped to 30-23 and 3rd in the standings on their way to 84-70. The Cardinals are a game behind in 4th with 29-23 on their way to 87-67, their best record in the period from 1950-62. If you are missing the last out, the game has never ended! :)

You could have at least put up a picture of Ebbets Field instead of Oakland.

The Dodgers captain and shortdtop Pee Wee Reese was 38 years old and would only play one more year after they moved to L.A.. He gave his all-time team he played against in his career and many had played for the Cardinals. Enos Slaughter - LF Willie Mays - Cf Stan Musial - RF Johnny Mize - 1B Red Schoendienst - 2B Al Dark - SS Whitey Kuowski - 3B Ewell Blackwell P . He did not give a catcher.
