I'm sure it'll be beautiful once it's completed. I always liked the '59 Ford better than the '57 or '58. One of the cool things Ford started with the '57 were the thin-pillar "sedans" that came very close to the actual unobstructed coupes on the 2 and 4 door.

The 1959 model had Galaxy or Galaxie written on upper rear side and Fairlane script on the upper Trunk lid.
@jamesbosworth4191

@@franklovullo8685 I'm well aware of that, but Ford, in their advertising and promotional material, never referred to it as such. They only called it the Galaxie. The reason is that was a "regular" Fairlane 500 that did not have that Thunderbird-style roof line Ford wanted motorists to know that the Galaxie was something special.

Bought a two door sedan just like that(it was white), for fifty dollars in 1978. It was minus engine trans, and even wheels ! I sourced a 67 Mercury with 390 and C-6 for 150.00, and had it on the road in no time.A lucky find were the stainless fender skirts in the trunk.

If you think Fords were bad, take a look at 57 Plymouths - made of compressed dehydrated rust. They started rusting the day you brought them home. The 58s were better, they waited til the next year to rust.

@@dicksanders8206 What I think really kills the 58 Fairlane is the side trim. It is at odds with the lines of the car, making it look, from certain rear 3/4 angles, like the car has been in a wreck and poorly repaired. If it had the same side trim as the Custom 300, it would have looked much better, as THAT model's side trim mimicked the pressed-in lines of the new 58 Thunderbird.
