When I was regularly rebuilding auto engines in my basement, I figured that half my time was spent cleaning. For first disassembly, during machining, after machining, and after assembly to paint it. I then had to clean the engine compartment. You have to do a good cleaning job to end up with a good job. Good Luck, Rick

How's she goin'? The work you and your Dad are doing on this garden tractor is terrific. Not only are you doing a great job rebuilding it, you are dissecting each part and discovering the flaws and damage and why it may have been worn the way it is. This experience will serve you well when looking at future projects. Thanks for doing this series and take 'er easy!!

Thank you for the kind words. Everything has gone well so far but we have a long way to go. It is interesting what parts have worn most with 60+ years of hard use. We have a few other Bolens Ride-a-matics to rebuild at some point and they should go a lot easier. Take care

Great job as always. Since my 62 uses a sprocket as an idler, I was shocked thinking that yours was 3 gear sprockets that were worn to the nub. Now I see that is is more of a ridge for the chain to ride on, but it is still badly worn. Looking forward to the next episode!

Great video Joseph and Iain. You two are so good with the detail and the tractor will be like new or better. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Nice observation on having the grease hole on the top of the shaft. I think I would have done the same. Yours and your fathers, or viewers thoughts on, when we grease or oil shafts when we put some thing together, could anti seize be used instead of oil or grease ? Any better or worse ? Thanks fellas. Great job and always some thing to learn 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋👋
@GardenTractorBoy

Thanks for the kind words Noel. I was wondering if someone would pick up on the location of the grease hole. Interesting thoughts about what to use putting things together. We tend to use grease or oil depending on the tolerance and use anti seize for anything that does not move. Take care

@@GardenTractorBoy Interesting. Well that’s what I do Joseph. But for some reason the other day I was wondering if anti seize would be an option. I’ll try to look into that just for fun. Have a great upcoming week. 👋👋👍🏻👍🏻
