Love this! The Cabs with Ralph Silverbrand as drum major and my husband on French horn. So many memories of those happy drum corps years.

Charles Frost, is no longer with us. may he rest in peace. But we all really appreciate what you have done for such a great activity, keeping our memories alive, and thinking about all you have done to put a smile on our faces. Today is April 6th 2022.

I never knew how much I missed my dad until I just came across this footage. When I saw it I burst into tears. I was always so proud to see them on the start line. I miss them and I miss my dad. Thanks for posting this.

May your dad rest in peace. Depending on what years he competed with Caballeros, I may have competed against him when h a member of the sun rises from 1964 through 1968? Today is July 14th 2023, and I do listen to this clip every once in awhile when I come across it. So if you leave a comment and an answer to my question oh, I will see it. It's always great to hear from former members of the activity and cooling Spectators or family members. God bless you and your family

@@americanspirit8932 Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry to say, that my dad's time in the corp was earlier than that. We moved from New Jersey in 1960 but returned for alumni appearances and then again once in a while to see drum corps competitions. I know that if you and my dad had ever had the chance to meet he would have found friendship and would have loved to talk about all the different drum corps. :)

How wonderful. My 1958-1963 stint with Sarnia Lionettes, the Hawthorne Caballeros were the top of the line corps, we all idolized them. They really raised the bar!! Music so clear and the drums. This gets into your bones forever!! Love the purity of these years!

Thank you Charlie. I'd rather watch this rather then anything that's around today. Today's corps ain't my kind of corps.

I agree with you 100%. I don't care for the marching bands today that horrible, they are not a real drum and bugle Corps and I have nothing against pans but don't call it something that it isn't

Great Memories!! I had this show on record ordered from Drum Corps News long ago. Our corps played on that field in Rochester a number of times (Junior A). Listening to the old sound, G trumpets, just brass & drums, too bad they made all the changes, adding orchestral instruments. Would have been so much better to stay pure. Oh well, nostalgia does that to you (he he he).

The POWER of the Legendary Hawthorne CABS No fancy broadway props. This is truly when Drum Corp was Drum Corps. The CABS dominated back then and till the end of time they will go down in history as the Grand Daddy of them All. Enough Said

May not notice it but Corps had little stop time in game exibitions you had to move move move to get your show in as 2nd half was knocking on your door. Notice how R Silverbrand major, is not wasting any time between commands .

Actually, the street beat was taken from 1962 Cachita (20:35) and is currently played today by the Alumni corps

Can someone remind of the tune at 24:51 right after the "I love Lucy" intro.? The drum part to that tune became the cadence/street beat that is still used today for both corps.
