Ah, the good old days when the goal posts were on the goal line. Recently started studying the start of the AFL, mostly flipping through Pro Football Reference data. Of the 22 players the site puts in the Bills "starters" column, 5 were not drafted by the NFL at all. Of the other 17, only 7 were drafted in the first 10 rounds. On average, they were drafted in the 12th round (scanned the figures pretty quickly and may have forgot to carry the one here or there, but even at a glance, it is clear these players were of no interest to the NFL.) Keep in mind, we only have 7 draft rounds today. The Bills had 15 guys on the complete roster who were picked in the 15th round or later. Probably a good move on the AFL's part. Looked to be no threat to the NFL, no reason to pay attention to a league of cast offs and has beens. The next thing they knew, the AFL was winning Super Bowls and forcing a merger!

Is this the year they lost to a CFL team?

Yes, folks, that's the Bills-in blue and silver during 1960 and 1961 seasons. In '62, they went to the red, blue and white with the red standing buffalo on helmets.
