I acquired this 1961 German built Nordmende Elektra 2/613 several years ago at a UK auction. It came with its original box, instructions, circuit diagram and original sales receipt from a Zurich dealer dated 13th January 1962. It's a rare set in the UK, not many if any were officially imported even though it has a 240 volt mains power option. It required replacement of 14 German ERD and WIMA tubular capacitors which were really knackered, and EL84, EM84 and ECH81 valves. The HT was low due to a faulty selenium rectifier so that was bypassed with four 1N4007 diodes. After RF realignment the set worked very well and continues to do so.
This AM/FM valve radio has the same complement of valves as other contemporary brands of AM/FM sets yet it easily outperforms them all with superior sensitivity on all bands, especially SW.
Here it is tuning through VHF 88-100MHz (it just managed to reach Classic FM on 100.6MHz).
