I was working for Norm Provan at this time. If my memory serves me right ' it was a mid week game so not to interfere with the normal comp. I remember Norm giving us the afternoon off to attend the game. None of the 6 to 10 metre line outs in those days, They were up in each others face from the first pass , getting the ball away was almost impossible..

What a crowd! Guess Aussies must have cared about tour games in those days...

57,000 for a midweek game. Aussie fans kept on saying to the poms “wait until you play StGeorge. Well the poms waited and smashed StGeorge 33-5. The 1962 English side were the greatest touring team ever to come to Australia.

Ian Walsh has always claimed that half the Dragons had the flu in this match. A pity if true. Two great teams , for sure. One of the all time Pommy sides.
