my Grandpa has one of these sitting in his yard sinking into the dirt my cousin was trying to get if 4 years ago but that didn't work out because he does not want to fully rebuild an engine that has not run in 8 years but when i am 16 and have enough money i'm going to give him a grand and take it home

Was THE Fred Lorenzen really driving? He was a NASCAR superstar back in the day. My dad, sister and I had our picture taken with him in Houston around 1962-63 when he was really hitting his stride. The picture was taken at a Western Auto merchandise show at the old Shamrock Hilton on South Main. He had been testing tires for Western Auto and was the celebrity featured at our show. Pic was taken by an old Polaroid that has been lost years ago.

410 hp would have been the 406 6pk motor the stock 427 produced 425, so either that is a detuned 427 (unlikely) or its a 406 or its not the right hood for that car and there is a 427 in it now.

@@Barn94 the 427 was introduced in 63. To my knowledge thats what they raced in 63. The 406 was in 61 and 62. Actually not alot of difference between the 2. 427 having a bigger bore. In 64 the improvement was in the heads

@@markmundwiller5842 You are correct. I should have fact checked before just commenting something I haven't researched in years. The 406 was the 62 race motor, and the 427 was 63. But it was the top oiler
@markmundwiller5842

@@Barn94 right. The early 427 had oiling challenges. In 65 came the side oiler to help with the oil issues. People don't realize that the center oiler engines are still great engines. With proper work on the oiling issues they will be fine.
