You sure have some top grade stuff, sir! Been watching some of your older videos now for a while and every one of them has been annotated - "This vehicle has been sold!" - which is no surprise because they're all gorgeous! I particularly like that you have some of the lesser seen models. I love the Vettes and the Mustangs and the Hemis as much as anyone but it's these ordinary ones which really bring us back. My neighbor had a '61 Comet, similar to this one except with the slanted tail lights.

Wow. Brings back memories! I had this exact car except mine was a Maroon color but this exact trim. It was my high school car back in the mid 70’s. I painted it candy apple red, put in a sunroof, dropped in a 260 V8, air shocks, mag wheels, traction bars, 50’s in the back 60,s in the front and cherry bomb mufflers.

I had the same colour and spec in the mid 80s. I was living in Southie in loft space near Gillette and had to give it to my landlord for back rent. Oh to be young again! Imho, Comets and Falcons from that time are really special.

I am from Uruguay, my grandfather bought in 1965 a ´63 Mercury Comet Custom exactly the same as yours, even the colour, which was from the US embassy here in Uruguay. He sold it in the mid 80s to my uncle, who sold it in 1999 to a Brazilian colector, who i belive still has it. It was the exactly same car, manual transmission (3 on the tree with overdrive) and when it was sold to Brazil, it still had the original plastic protectors on the seats and the original spare tire UNUSED. When my grandfather sold it to my uncle, he took away the original keychain, which is made of black leather with the chromed Mercury logo. Years later, he gave it to me and I still have it as the keychain of my Ranger (I can shoot a picture of it if you wish). The condition of the car when sold was virtualy new, all original even the paint.

@@dougsnyder8963 Oh, that’s great. No, my Corvair is tan colored with a gold interior. John had it in his personal collection. It’s been a great car - I can’t drive any distance without someone stopping me to ask about it and share their own Corvair memories.

I had a '64 Falcon Futura when I was in college. Had the 170 engine and Ford-o-matic. I bought it for $1095 in May of 1969 with supposedly 37K on the odometer which I came to realize was probably not correct. It never left me stranded but I put a lot of money into it to keep it going. The 170 engine usually got to the point of needing new lifters which was one thing I had to do to mine, as well as a valve job. They would tick and rap quite loudly when the engine warmed up. Mine was pretty basic with just the automatic and a radio as options, it originally came with black walls and dog dish caps. I found some Falcon style wheel covers in the JC Whitney catalog and also bought some white wall trim rings that I had installed until I needed new tires and then I replaced the original blackwalls with real whites. By the end of my ownership, it got quite rusty underneath - the trunk floor and right front floor which the service station I went to fixed by using one of their old sheet metal gas price signs. I ended up selling it in the spring of 1972 for $250 at which point the odo read 76,700 miles.

Nice thank you for the video. I had found same year car and model but with some differences that makes it confusing on Identifying which comet model is it, theres 4 door model's with 4 and 6 tail light's then some have the floor shifter.

Nice Comet. Always wondered why Ford kept the fins, although there was kind of a boomlet for them in 63 & 64 with a number of cars sprouting mini fins; the big Chryslers, the Dart I think, big Olds... I came close on a 64 Caliente sedan (they upped the interior trim with the Calientes) - a very sensible afforable entry level classic from San Diego - but I wanted at least the 260 if not a 289 (good luck in a 4dr I'd guess) and so I didn't.

Prefer the tudor model, falcons also had keyhole covers. I'd like to find a tudor (2 door) hood, fenders, grill & bumbers for my Falcon ranchero so I could make a comet ranchero.

Interesting. If Ford had used this car as the Edsel the Edsel would have become a winner. I say that because when the Edsel came out a bad recession was in progress and everyone was wanting this car, not the big expensive Edsel that Ford tried to push on us.

It's a Falcon with fins. The interior of this vehicle definitely looks like an immaculate original. IMO, Falcons and Comets were not that great looking. That doesn't mean that they were not good automobiles.
