This is 1964 Otis Westcoaster Mail Truck with restoration to become a Ice Cream truck. The truck has sat for 2 years, but ran when it was last parked. The exterior of the truck was restored by Red Rock Restoration in Knoxville, IA (Google them). The interior was completely rewired by a local Harley mechanic. The vehicle comes with a bubble machine.
The biggest issue, is that the rag joint needs replacement. The previous owner had attempted a fix, but it is causing the rear wheel to lock.
Most Westcoaster owners do a flex joing upgrade to a car U-joint. (I have the specs on how to do it. To do that, you remove the yokes from the transmission and rear end. You may want to change the seals while you have it apart. If you take the yokes you removed to a transmission or drive shaft shop, they should be able to match up the yokes to the ones you need. The yokes most use are Dana Spicer. You can get the front differential and transfer case of a mid 60’s jeep.
Otherwise, if you know how to repair the rag joint you can go that route. I don't have the time to finish this project as my mechanic parter is having health issues. We have more that I'm asking in the vehicle, but would like to see it go to a good home. It's a great little vehicle for parades, promoting a business or scooting around town. It will be a great collector's item when the rag joint is completed. The vehicle is located in Des Moines, IA.
