Been watching for almost 2 yrs now and the thing that I liked the most about your builds is that it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect and that you use different techniques, paint mediums and keep reminding everyone that we should build it how we want to and that it's a hobby and it's suppose to be fun. Keep on building your way because we all love it. Rock on brother

Thanks, that's what this is about, the FUN side of models! If folks want to go next level and detail, that's very cool too! But we shouldn't look down on anyone for the way they choose to enjoy their hobbies.

@@hpiguy I 100% agree. I just don't understand why someone would watch your videos of you building the models that belong to you and would have the nerve to criticize your work. If they don't like how you are building then they should stop watching and move on. I'll say it again, we love your videos and thoroughly enjoyed each and every second.

My Grandfather had a 62 Ford Fairlane 500, when I was a kid. Four door, three on the tree, and the big straight six. White with blue interior. It has been fifty years since I was in that car. Very Nice build !! Love Love Love the old vintage short track stockers. Just a quick comment/tip. Because short track stock cars raced mostly in the evening and many tracks had less than stellar lighting, driveshafts were required to be painted white. A small easy detail that adds a touch of realism !!!

Boy that tow bar brought back memories! Back in the early ‘70’s I used to see race cars being towed to Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC with tow bars, almost always crudely lettered “race car in tow” on the back of them, and a set of trailer brake lights mounted on trunk lid! Must have been a real pain to get it home if you crashed it hard!

This kit was originally an AMT 1965 annual kit and came with two engines: stock and racing. The small V-8 is the Ford small-block 289 and the big V-8 is the high-performance Ford 427 Wedge optional engine. The little 289 is kind of a bonus that they still included it in this Modified Stocker kit. public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/ford/1961-1970/amt-65-fairlane-hardtop/6.html

I've been watching you build for a while now and I have a few questions. Is there an advantage to painting unassembled parts on the tree versus after assembly? Do you ever use Bare-Metal foil? Have you ever done a resin bodied kit? Or kitbashing at all? Or is it that you only do reviews of current kits with minimal customization?
@hpiguy
4 жыл бұрын
I do kit reviews, mostly as they come from the box because the companies that send the kits want people to see how they can be built mostly as is. I build fast, a kit every two days, BMF is a great product, I just don't use it personally because it takes too long.

You were saying that if you wanted to make the tires “dirt track” tires you can cross hatch the tires. I was thinking, I use a tool in my leather working that’s made for carving horse hair on leather, and because it has sic rows of small blades, it would be very easy to cross hatch the rubber. Just a thought to try and make it easier to mimic tire tread.
