I restored an S 65 when I was 13. Stripped it down to the “ Frame” or whatever you call it. Repainted in black laquer . Had the engine rebuilt by the local Honda Dealer. It was fun , and came out great. I hope you follow thru and rehab this Old timer.

I have a 64 Honda CA95 I got from my late grandpa. I'm planning on restoring it... Maybe more of a retro mod. We'll see as parts and resources are heard to find. I would absolutely love to follow along with someone more experienced in doing things like this. So, if you're still deciding. You restoring yours will greatly help me restore the one I got from my late grandfather.

I restored 2 CA160's. Pretty much the same bike, but with a 160cc engine instead of 150cc. They are fun to ride.

I understand your hesitation in restoring this. It would be difficult to find parts and probably very costly. They would be great videos though and I would love to see it! Either way I'm sure we will be along for the journey.

Since it runs, you should do something with it. A restoration would be awesome but if you can't find the parts you need to do it right, or the parts would be too expensive to make it worth while, build a rat bike or cafe racer out of it. That engine straight piped sounded awesome though. What ever you do, it will make great content.

thats not a voltage regulator it it a rectifier it turns ac power into dc power so your battery can charge. your vin number should be on that wiring harness a little plastic tag you dont want to loose that .

It promises to be an interesting restaurant of this Honda. I was very surprised by the adaptation of the rectifier based on selenium-coated plates! I remember very well this type of rectifier, once common. Designed even for rectifying large currents. I am curious about further work, congratulations!

I’m going to vote to punt it for the parts. There’s cheap bikes that are much more fun to build imo.

I just picked up a 1966 dream that is in pretty darn good condition for 1800. I think you might spend more than that trying to get this restored , not to mention the amount of hours you will spend doing it. Part it out for sure

You could try to make this honda your flagship bike, like chrisfix has his mustang, you could give this honda the GoldGuy™ treatment, and gain fame by doing stuff with it, or you could slowly restore it, enjoy it, and after a few years when the price goes up you can sell it.

Hey gold guy, I saw a video the other day and it showed the guy using JIS screwdrivers, which are different to Philips. That's why when you get these old Jap bikes the screw heads are usually messed up.

I would part it out and use that money for another build. I would love to see this restored but the cost would only be worth it if you planned on keeping the bike. You will lose money if you restored and flipped it.
