I, too, thank you for posting. Originally from Altoona, I was moved to Florida when I was two. Every year we would go back and almost always visit the Horseshoe Curve. I may add that both my maternal Grandfather and my Father retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad, an Uncle worked for them for a while and an Aunt was a Forman for them during World War II. During the Seventies, I worked for the AutoTrain Corporation (when it was a private company).

A blast from the past, a good old time, yet my how much has changed since then. Very interesting to see what it used to be compared to now

PRR had an austere paint scheme at the very end, but it still looked classy.

Thanks for the great post, as it was nice to see what it looked like back then and friends and family enjoying it as much as we do today.

Cool they were using Alco's as pushers! The 4 tracks were still in when I visited there in the mid 1980's tho one was removed not long after.

just think. MOST of that power is now part of an appliance from the 1980's or freeway bridge or building support.

Ummmm, in 1965 we were in the middle of Vietnam war. Swing again. This time try and keep your eyes on the ball.
