Old school but it's great to see it still working.

Excellent . So good to see such a machine still earning its keep ! I grew up with a MF 780 Special bagger combine with TVO/ petrol engine on our mixed tenanted farm in the 60's and later replaced by a MF187 tanker combine. Got a great photo of me as a baby in my father's arms as he is driving the 780 Special combining oats for my uncle. Some of my happiest memories as a child growing up on a farm relate back to harvest days with Dad driving the combine and me helping with the bagging.

Lovely video- great to see a 500 working again, remember my uncle's giving great service up until about 10 years ago and a source of many childhood memories for me.

MAGIC, my Grand-dad ran 2 500s and a 510, they would climb mountains, later replaced with Laverda M150s. Hope she's still running.

Great video, When I was 12 years old in 1966, father bought one of the last 500's from Elders of Berwick upon Tweed as the new 510 was just on to the market and he got a good discount. The combine gave good service till about 1984.

I thought it was WHEAT he was cutting - but I can smell the OATS - Wild Oats ? .... Man, how they shoogled on those "big" tyres. - especially if you didn't balance the brakes! Our 515 was like that too - and when hill climbing you could get some frights as a result of them kicking their wheels round! Maybe we should have had a bigger than 10ft header - but try descending steep Highland hills or stopping and reversing from a choke - became an instant 2-wheeler. great to see one in such very good original appearance still working reasonably well - Whaaaaat! - despite the bad tracking of the rear axle !! - looks like it.

My biggest problem with Massey Combines was that they were top heavy... we had a 410 and 550 if going down a steep grade youd better lower the header...

how funny. I've just been uploading some photo's of the 500 we used to have on our farm in South Cambridgeshire. My dad used to drive it, this is all before my time, I think it was sold in 1986? And we had a 525 to replace it.

I see it has a Norfolk registration. I had the smaller model the 410 also 10 ft cut. Mine had a 'wobble box' to drive the cutter bar but it seems the 500 had a crank system.

All machinery on a public road, has to have a number plate fitted at the rear, so that the name of the owner can be identified..
