Chevrolet built at least one 66 L88 but it was a backdoor deal and went to Roger Penske. Dick Guldstrand himself picked this car up at St Louis in January 1966 and drove it back to Pennsylvania. With no heater he liked to froze to death! Anyway, this was a real L88 with all the equipment that was to become a regular production option in 1967 but RP0 L88 does appear in the 1966 factory assembly manual. The car was raced at Daytona and Sebring that year and finished 1st in class in both races.

I apologize but everyone saying the car is Mosport green is very much in need of an eye doctor. The color is Trophy Blue, another 1966 only color.

No L88 officially maybe until 67 but Roger Penske got a 66 L88 out the back door at Christmas 65. Well documented and car was driven from St Louis back to Pennsylvania by the one and only Dick Guldstrand. Plenty stuff like this went on back in the day so you can never say never.
