Bought mine in 1976 off a frat brother for $80. All stock except the tuners had been switched out with some off an acoustic guitar. The originals were easily bent, so not surprising. It had seen some playing time, the neck pickup's top edge is rounded off. I put some Schallers, a brass nut and a Leo Quah bridge on it. Plenty of tones thru my Vibro Champ with an Orange Squeezer. Anyone who I ever let play it offered to buy it. Still have it all these decades later, and still no checking.

I enjoyed the video. I got one in 1971 and it was stolen in Memphis in '74... still my favorite playing guitar!

Simply a great and overlooked guitar. I'm currently looking to purchase one myself. Nice playing by the way.

Thanks for checking it out! While I do sell some of the guitars I review, I’m afraid this is one of my favorites and not for sale. But, yes, you should definitely buy a 1965-66 Melody Maker D. They rock!

I want to say Gibson made a bass with this body shape in like 2019 or so, but I think it was just called the Gibson DC. Came in black, blue, read, and white. I could be wrong but I believe that is correct.

@@CompanyGrip I looked it up, Gibson Les Paul Junior Tribute DC Bass came out in 2019. it had one humbucker in the bridge and was available in worn finishes. like open pore finish, the colors were Brown, Cherry, Ebony, White, TV Yellow, and a blue satin finish one as well.

@@CompanyGrip it retailed for $999 A Gibson for less than a thousand dollars is crazy. Almost bought it just to say I owned a Gibson.
