Twin Pipe Cz's are the crown jewel in vintage mx racing

I can't say I remember the twin pipe CZ. Back then most events I attended were observed trials. I remember AJS, BSA Victors, even Harleys dabbing through a mud puddle. Your fenced in corral looks like a great place for horses. I'm sure a lot of us are glad you're into bikes instead!

Awesome bike! Jikov carbs were often referred to as “carbonators” for frothy fuel delivery. As far as starting a CZ the ritual was to flood the Jikov, start the engine, then lean the bike way over on it’s side to keep from flooding the engine while it burbled and choked before clearing out. Just part of the deal. I love these things, especially the 250 Falta and 400.

A dear late friend that I knew had a 1965 CZ 250 MotoX. He would occasionally let me ride it. I can tell you, they were awesome machines in their day. The suspension was tops in their day. I believe they were the lightest in the 250cc field. When the Jikov carb started giving up on him, he started calling it the jackoff carb!

Montesa también utilizó 2 escapes para un solo cilindro en algunos modelos de los 50's y 60's como la Montesa brío 80 (125cc) de 1954

The twin pipes are awesome! My uncle bought a CZ 250 in the 70s and it scared him so much that he returned it. It was so much faster than his mx125.

Great old bikes!. But is seems like any old two stroke bike video, they never let the engine idle. Seem to always keep reving it a bit, and all you hear is piston slap echoing. Maybe warm it a bit before reving it, that piston grow and quiet down. Then lets see if it idles..

How is the VM series mukuni not better exactly?!
@allenwenzel7272
Жыл бұрын
Well, if you are talking air flow and horsepower, then yes, the Jikov is better. But, most of those old Jikov's are completely worn out by now, and the Mikuni VM with its chrome plated brass slide is an easy replacement. The Mikuni has the ability to be fine tuned much more than the Jikov, but you could wear the Mikuni out by changing the jetting over and over again to get it jetted correctly and making power. Fortunately, the CZ guy's have figured out a very good baseline jetting for the Mikuni's over the years of Vintage Motocross racing here in the USA, and that why so many CZ's are fitted with a Mikuni carburetor these days. Are they better than a Jikov? Well, yes, they are better than worn out Jikov!

@@allenwenzel7272 I just have a hard time believing the Japanese made Mikuni isn't better. I have two VM34s sitting in my room right now I'm putting on my bike early next year hopefully. Going to run UFO (thunder products) slides and possibly their thunder jet. Didn't know they don't like being taken apart. I did remove the springs so they don't get weaker during storage. They definitely make more power than OEM CV carbs are way more modern bikes.
@allenwenzel7272

@@Whitejesselink I think you mis-understood the meaning of my comment. It's not that Mikuni Carbs are difficult to take apart, but that with the wide assortment of "Brass" available for the Mikuni's, unless you have some sort of baseline jetting recommended for your particular motorcycle, you could potentially wear the Mikuni body out by changing the jetting so often as you inched closer to the right configuration. VM Mikuni carbs where the mainstay of the Four-Stroke performance companies of the 1970's and eighties (Powroll and White Brothers, as an example). What bikes are you mounting your VM34 Mikuni's onto?

@@allenwenzel7272 a 2005 I think is, can never remember might be 6, Vulcan 500. It's a classic engine even though that's sort of new use to be the Kawasaki 454 LDT just bored out and same thing nearly just cams and carbs and engine covers as the ninja 500.

@@allenwenzel7272 slowly piecing the bits together. This is my first time doing a swap like this. Thinking of keeping the 35 pilots and trying 190 or so mains. Any advice I'm reading, or suggestions on someone to ask about this. It's the go to carb for ninja 500 builds but those aren't common, though findable easily online. But I haven't seen any jetting information being given for free just one guy charging an arm for a kit. Kit I'm piecing together will be better hopefully but yeah the jetting is tricky. Been reading and watching stuff on this of months daily it seems.
