He did a beautiful job with that paint! Very nice of him! I really like the way you did the horn, Ron. The first thing I do when I'm sure I will remember how to put something back together is video myself taking it apart..experience has taught me about me! I half-expected to see you riding by pulling a wheelie.. :-) You did a great job with that bike!

This was my first new motorcycle ; never missed a beat ; handled well and cruised at 70 all day. Price with black saddlebags and windshield in 68 was around 800 bucks. I traded it for a Triumph Trophy 500 which was another sweet handling bike which was traded for a Matchless 750. G15 MK 2 ; unbelievably quick ; all new 68s in the space of 2 years. I really had the motorcycle bug. Glory days for sure.

$800 wow. I was 2 years old in 68. I have many fond memories of this bike. I had it valued in present condition at about $3000. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Good job Wally. Dave made the paint job look professional. I fall back on my videos when a project runs over a few months. 😆 Lewie McNeely and I had been wondering about Marty's situation. When Lewie let me know Marty left a message on your channel I came over to see and stayed to watch your bike go together. In 1972 I was rebuilding a 1951 Harley Davidson Electra Glide. They were definitely drafting in 1972. Nixon did me a big favor and stopped the war before my number came up. After watching a few of your vidscI decided I wanted to see more. I subscribed and will be back. 😆😎

Yeah I dodged the draft in 72... being only 6 and all. You know. Marty's wife has cancer in one of her kidneys. It's contained so by removing the kidney the cancer will be gone. I hope I got that right. I spoke to Marty a couple days ago. Thanks for stopping by. I just watched your Skil Rotary Drill vids. Good stuff.

I may be wrong but I grew up around Harleys and I think that 51 Pan was either a Hydra Glide or Duo-Glide. Electra Glide only came out with the Shovels.

the license plate bracket is in backward, that's why it has a gap, it's bent to go the other way (the plate should line up with the white light under the brake lens)

@@WallysPlace66 Its still a nice bike to hand down, running or not, it will be the memories of you working on it and their kids building memories working on it and so on, 100 years from now your great-grandkids will be working on it as you are now, and they will be saying ( my great grandfather worked on this bike over a 100 years ago) and so on. It's the memories you're putting into motion.
