@@kjkuta1Cynical are the people today who are blind to how well we now have it. Advances in science/medicine and technology has certainly improved our lives. The internet has brought a world of information immediately to our finger tips. We are not stuck watching only 3 or 4 channels on 19" tube TVs or paying extra for long distance calls from our corded rotary phones. As much as I like the cars from the 60's, today's are safer, more economical, way less polluting, better equipped, and longer lasting. In the '60's there was more social unrest & rioting, more discrimination of minorities, and significant pay inequity for female workers if even able to get jobs traditionally done by males. Vietnam War dragging on, cold war with U.S.S.R.; the arms race. Cuba concerns. I was around to witness those times that some choose to now glamorize.

My first car was a '73 Nova Custom 2 door. It had a 350 with a 2bbl carb with a three speed automatic. If I babied it, I could eak out 11 mpg. When I drove it like a drag car, it got about 11 mpg. I thought it was fast in the mid 80's with it's whopping 175hp! Sounded like a vacuum cleaner when you got on it.

@@brentlanyon4654My '72 Nova has a carbureted 383ci small block with a 650 cfm 4 barrel carburetor, a mild street cam, performance intake, and headers. It makes just over 350 rwhp, and gets considerably more than 11 mpg. It gets around 14 mpg in town, but over 20 mpg on the highway. It is not a race car. It has a close ratio 4 speed, with 4th gear being quite high. It also has a 2.73 rear axle, which allows it to cruise on the highway at low rpms, but still leave rubber on the road in lower gears. 11 mpg means something is wrong. My 1968 Ford F-250 3/4 ton truck with a 4 barrel 390 and a C6 automatic does better than that.

Rickhale: I remember the dread & concern of my neighbors whose sons were serving in the Vietnam War. That was just part of the era and there was definitely good to be found though in things like U.S. made appliances built to last, wholesome TV entertainment, and less nastiness in our behavior. However my whole point is some must believe it was total utopia. It shouldn't be overlooked that around the run of Bewitched we had assassinations of RFK, MLK, much racial & political unrest, and of course an arms race with a communist world power. Walter Cronkite had much to report.

Wife split on me, took it, let some side action I didn't know about forge my name on the title & sell for $150. jomamma, The Act is great legislation for prohibiting pay inequity within a company, but doesn't & can't fix the gender pay gap at the industry level. For example one company can still legally pay its all female workforce less than what a similar company pays its all male workforce with equivalent duties and responsibilities. This scenario would be part of the gender pay gap stats for the D.O.L
