My parents had a '65 New Yorker coupe. There was a pedal on the right rear back of the seat below the recliner lever (it had bucket seats). Stepping on this made the seat slide forward. Also, I know at least 300Ls had this feature. I'm pretty sure Imperials had the same set-up. The '67 Crown Coupe they had, had the tilt the seat back and move forward feature. On that car, you had to move the seat back yourself. The seats had open seams lined with a fur like material. It was copper w/ black leather and dual AC. I was really disappointed when it was traded for Mark III in '69.

I had a 67 Le Baron that was a mid year production as it had Auto Temp and AM/FM Stereo, plus it had rear A/C, tilt, cruise, dimming and sentinel and all the other bells and whistles that were standard on the Le Baron. I found 3 build sheets (with the carbon still inside) that were completely blank under the carpet in the rear, kinda weird but never found one that was printed out. LOVED the dual A/C in Phoenix. I could cruise the freeways and have both units cranked up and the front would shut down on temp, but the rear would keep cranking despite being 110 or better outside. In heavy traffic it would still cool well, just never got the front cool enough to slow down the front blower.

It makes sense it wasn’t crazy loaded. Most of the time they make recommendations for ordering depending on the region and sales metrics.. The mix of higher optioned or loaded cars in inventory is usually 1/20 in stock or less depending on where you are.

The broadcast sheet might tell the story. In the top right box it might have a Y13 code which is dealer demo. Usually those broadcast sheets are located underneath the driver/passenger seat cramped between springs and cushion but some are hidden in the weirdest places underneath the carpet, behind the glove box etc. It's indeed a very early build date but not equipped as you would expect off a dealer demo

Maybe a Chrysler executive ordered the car for himself. That could explain the very early build date

For 1970 models Chrysler Corp introduced “ torsion quiet ride” on C body cars. Rubber isolated bushings in front subframe and rear leaf spring mounts.

Back in 1992 I had an opportunity to buy for $600 a test track with all of the paperwork '68 Imperial Lebaron ( I get lost on the Imperial and Crown lingo, but remember '68 Lebaron and it looks like yours). Can't remember if it was a 2dr or 4dr, but it was a champagne silvery green grey metallic color. It had green tinted glass all the way around. It had a dashboard pushbutton transmission. Almost certain it had a sunroof because it keeps ringing a bell, and he said it was the very top model...so probably 4dr come to think of it. The guy wasn't even selling it, but I kept seeing it on my Ohio State University campus pizza deliveries. It was on a parking slab behind the house in the alley behind West 9th ave between N. High and Neil ave.. Finally I decided to track down who owned it and it was an older man who was the original owner. He told me he had all of the paperwork from the " Test Track....Mechanics Magazine"....Those two words I'm certain of, so it was either Popular Mechanics Magazine ( if they even did test track tests??), or Mechanix Illustrated Tom McCahill ( who did do the test track tests). Crazy how the memory messes with us. Now I'm thinking Indy 500 pace car....they wouldn't have used a Lebaron Imperial would they?? Bottom line, he did bring the paperwork to the back door and showed it to me. I did get excited after seeing that and discussed it with my 22 year old wife. We were young! I was 26. I had two VW Beetles ( '63 pearl white brick red interior, and a '62 grey w/ "final year" large sunroof) and a '64 VW camper Westfalia already. I knew that Lebaron was a great collector opportunity, but I didn't want to push my luck with my wife. Plus my VW's were nearly complete. I'd love to find that test track article. I'll let it simmer a few days and maybe look. The car was in really nice original 'one owner' shape, just super dirty. What would that be worth today if it was rescued and put back in shape with that paperwork?
