Whoa Nelley, a Delta 88 and this one used to be great. This was a comfortable ride when it was a new car many moons ago. We got the VIN, we win: 3 for Oldsmobile, 6469 for Delta 88 four door Town Sedan, 8 for 1968 model year, X for Fairfax, KS assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The original Fairfax plant where this was assembled closed in 1986, and Fairfax II opened up shortly thereafter and still operates today. My '84 Delta 88 was assembled at the old Fairfax. Correct, the standard engine on the Delta 88 that year was the 455 "Rocket" V8 two barrel with 310 HP and 490 ft-lb of torque running regular fuel with a 9.00:1 compression ratio. A premium fuel two barrel 455 was also available (325 HP and 500 ft-lb of torque with a 10.25:1 compression ratio). Of course, a four barrel 455 V8 was also available. As we've discussed before, the 455 is a massive stump pulling engine and is one of the most reliable GM engines made. Oldsmobile engines were among the most reliable of all of the V8s. They are as I have noted a second favorite of mine next to Pontiac V8s. We got the tag, we can brag: 02D for the fourth week of February 1968 production, 68 for 1968 model year, 36469 for Oldsmobile Delta 88 four door Town Sedan, BK for Fairfax, KS assembly, 344 for Gold interior trim, T for Ivory lower exterior paint and A for Ebony Black upper exterior paint. Whoa Nelley, the Delta 88 will soon meet the final fate. 1968 and used to be great. 455 needs to be kept alive. Rocket is soon to be out of pocket. More door needs to be saved from being just a core. 455 with a C head, it ain't yet dead. The Olds is true gold. That's it, time to quit. Going to be flat and that's that. Will Benny make it crank? You can take that to the bank. 455 shouldn't have to take a nosedive. It's going to get squished and the Rocket faithful, Dr. Olds, many here and the Google Man are going to be very, very, very, very, very, very pissed.

Hi Ben, if whoever took the marker lamps thinking they would fit a Cutlass (yawn), they are in for a surprise, they will not fit, the bezel curves etc are different between the A and B/C bodies. It is nice seeing different styles at shows rather then 2-doors, they let many who wish to enter the hobby because the 'me too' cars have been priced pretty far out of reach for a lot of folks these days. As mentioned, grab the front parking/side marker lamps, they will find a home if you advertise them. The early run of 455's did have the forged crankshaft, articles and numbers suggest this was so until December or January 1968, and not just restricted to 4-bbl or Tornado. There are a couple of verified cases of traced 2-bbl 455's having a forged crank upon disassembly. For street use, the Nodular iron cranks, marked with an 'N' on them will still take a beating. 2-bbl is still a torque monster in low or high compression format, that is what gets a heavy car moving. The 2-bbl will still pull to a nice top sped but the small lungs will make the climb slower. 455 and Turbo-400 behind it? Grab it, but know the full sized cars worked the speedometer off the front wheel left side. People also look for brake drums and that speedometer cable in the small group of enthusiasts who like the large Oldsmobiles. Bumpers too! Thanks for posting this find!

The rocket 350 4 barrel in a 68 Cutlass was a pretty good tire fryer, at least the one wheel peel version 😇 The shop I worked at back in the '70's had a 67 Delmont 88 with the 425 high compression 2 barrel, and a 68 Catalina 400 2 barrel as parts runner cars. Those cars fried the tires with ease, even the Pontiac with a limited slip diff. The Pontiac was even more amazing, it would get 20 mpg on the highway (55 mph back then) with a weak cylinder.

Well you found another one that is close to my heart. The 1967 delta 88 brought me home from the hospital as a newborn. It was around till i was about 5. The only real difference between the 67 and the 68 is the tail lamp assembly has been put into the bumper and the front fenders have been cut to accommodate lights. Since you're younger than i am by about 20 years i'll tell you something you probably don't know. You could look at any 1967 american car you want and they do not have side marker lights but that's not true in 1968 that's when side marker lights became federally mandated. I think the 67 is sleeker but i like the marker lights not only for the safety purpose but it makes the car look good at night time. Ours was a medium light blue with a dark blue top i can't remember the color of the interior more than likely dark blue. It left at a time when my dad started to do really well. I was a oops baby, in 1972 my father was 52 years old. A 1972 cadillac cadillac took its place along with a 1972 mercury marquis. This car was a great find i don't know how you manage to do it nearly every day! Your videos are awesome
