Amal is short for the original name of amalgamated carburetor company. Three companies combined into one and they later shortened their name. I’m with you on the pronunciation! I enjoy watching the videos of father and son working together.

Cool photo album. I didn't realize how much of a motorcycle bad ass your pops is. He's the real deal. It's great that he's passing on all that knowledge to you. So the float should sit even with the lip of the bowl when you flip it over like that? I thought it was supposed to be down just a smidge (can't remember the actual measurement). I love that you can still buy an Amal concentric or monobloc carb, and get all the parts needed (maybe of which have been upgraded since the 60's and 70's). I just put some choke mechanisms back into a Triumph T140 that didn't have them when I got it. The choke cable was the type that needed the screw in adjuster, which is different than the top hat choke cable on my TR6.
