I can still recall as a teenager being given a ride in one first 3000 GT's. At the time it was the fastest car I had ever been in. It made such an impression that I later owned 7 MK2 and MK3 3.0 litre Capri's and then a 2.8 injection.

I had a mk 1 capri when i was 18yrs old and bought it in the dark...next morning i woke up and looked out my bedroom window to find it was 5 different colours lol...had it resprayed midnight blue and bottom half stratus silver....even had matching fluffy dice (they were fashionable then)...i then stupidly after a few years traded it in for a TR7 .. How i long for my old Capri back, best car i ever owned and a definate bird puller....

In the US, my 1st car, was 74' Capri, 4 speed, 2000 cc German engine model, in that orange.. I loved that thing, in 1983-84, I 🤔 thought I was the Sultan Siam, cruising around Northeast Philadelphia in a car nobody recognized at the time... I would up, owning 6 or 7 more over my 20's.. Great segment guys.... Thanks ...

My Dad bought me a 1970 1600 GTXLR, white with the black vinyl roof, 2 days before I passed my driving test. The first my best mate knew of me learning to drive was when I pulled up at the garage where he worked as an apprentice and said "Put 3 quids worth in." I only had the car for 2 years but, when I look back on those halcyon, always, it seems, summer days, it is always right there in my golden memories. That was 43 years ago now and I still miss that car. Happy, happy days.

In early 80's I had a 1969 1600GT Ohv in Sable brown, with tan interior. Rostyle wheels. Put driving lamps and fog lamps on it. 1st gear died on the first date with new girlfriend ( now wife for 35years ), spent 2 weeks staying away from hills. Got a replacement gearbox and new girlfriend came up to help me fit it. She was inside the car with a rope around the gearbox helping me put it into place. She should have run then. We have done lots of car work since then

This car had an enormous number of engine and gearbox combinations engineered into it. Don't forget there were two parallel offerings on the market - U.K. and Germany. I worked at Ford at the time and could never work out if it was the U.K. Essex V6 or the Taunus one. Mine was a 1600GT XLR in white with the black hood and trunk lid. I still miss it.

The first generation cars were much prettier. I don't recall seeing many of the later ones with the ugly tail lights here in Australia. I know we sold them, but I don't think they sold as well as the earlier cars did. I think most of the Capris here in Aust have been V8 swapped. No one seemed to have bothered modifying the V6's when V8's were so easy to get and fitted in so nicely. Perfect bay for a Windsor

My big brother's first car was a 1973 Mercury Capri. He bought it in 1979 when he was 16. I was 10. It was really cool. Orange with black interior, and he added wheel flares with front and rear spoilers. It looked really slick when it was done. I can't remember if it was a stick, and I can't ask him because he died of a bad heart in 2015. GRHS😔 It was badged Mercury, not Ford.

In 1971 the Capri v8 Perana was launched in South Africa. Colours were red and yellow. Two racing stripes in black were painted on. These ran on either side of the body from back to front across the bonnet. Bonett also had a dome or buldge. The automatic version added a beautiful Jericho sounds from the twin exhausts when gears changed. An option existed to have your car tuned by Basil Green a Ford specialist who would then allocate a number to your car with his signature. A new Perana sold for 5,000 rand in 1971.

GREAT music choice for a GREAT video - LOVED it! A 'wide boy' farmer's son in our village had a Capri - souped-up and rusty as hell, in which he would roar around the lanes. He had 'Dixie' as his air-horn but the motor never had quite enough power to get to the end of the tune - hilarious, but frightening if you came across him after he'd been to the pub! He died prematurely at 50 so I'm glad he had his fun. Mad Mick we'd call him.

Even though I'm a die hard Holden man- these Capri's are awesome! I'd sell both my VC and VH Commodores for one with a good body and was V8 swapped Capri already. Parana's are just too rare and hard to find. You'd be devaluing it modifying it the way I would want it with tubs in the rear and a decent ANDRA 7.5 second approved 'cage. A full Pro Street inspired build is what I would want to do with one of these. It might not be the "in" trend today, but I think Pro Street rocks!!! Everything should be tubbed, 'caged and wheelie bar equipped and have stupid power. Haha, my daily runs 10's on low boost (21psi). When my meth injection kit arrives from Summit Racing I'll wind it up to the 40spi the motor was built for and shoot for 9's. It'll still be my daily though, doing it for Dale on the daily... ;)

My first proper car was a used metallic blue with black vinyl roof Capri 1600 L....when I went to the Ford used car dealer to pick it up there was a 1600 GT XLR in the showroom which wasnt there when I initially went to see the 1600 L....the salesman in no way would allow me to change as all the paper work etc had been done also he was,nt the salesman for the GT XLR so his commision would be affected....what a loss for me....but that 1600 L lasted me for years without any problems except the stupid headlight switch going on fire. My second Capri was a Black 70 2000 GTXLR V4 another great car...then a 74 RS 3100 written off...and lastly the 2.8 injection converted to Tickford...all were great cars and cheap to buy and cheap to run.
