As a 14 year old movie usher, I saw this movie about 50 times. The music still brings back good memeries.

What a beautiful romantic film... Also with in that time the most beatiful actress .... And then the music...very good made...romatic and also funny... It made me cry sometimes... In my dreams the romatic way of meeting a woman and fall in love together.. How nice.....

The first half of this film is perfection. I`m very nostalgic by nature. Finding that special magic in life that trancends the ordinary and trivial must be fantastic.

I only wish love like this could be really found. As a young man, I saw this movie 3 times. I now realize, as an old man, love like this is either a myth or rare!

Ananda, funny how 40 years of life changes you. I was a young man who was a romantic about love & commitment, but sadly life taught me its either a myth or rare. I still have many of my memories of young love!

Ananda, if you are still in your 20s or 30s, hang on to the dream of finding this kind of romantic total love. It might still happen, but I do believe it is rare & usually is seen in movies only. God Bless my friend!

finally out on dvd after all these years. tired of watching a VHS transfer to dvd. this is one of the absolute best romantic comedies ever. Certainly my favorite. The music makes the movie that much better. The April Fools song is one of the best LOVE songs. Almost April 2014. Wonder how many of these scenes will be recreated in some form by couples falling in love.

Absolutely love this little gem , saw this as a kid waaaaay back in 1969 with my older sister (it was rated M - she was my guardian) -2nd feature with "Daddy's gone a-hunting " back when you could go to the movies for about 3.00 (including popcorn and drink) ,recently saw "The April Fools" again and cracked up at the --extreme- look of the characters in the party scene (so 60's !!) especially the blond --"Naomi" who later became Jack Lemmon's secretary -in her knit dress , white eye shadow & lipstick (Scary ! ) Catherine Deneuve is just plain STUNNING !!

You and me both! A true classical beauty, who's never looked more so than in this film. I saw this on TV in 1989 and spent the next 18 years searching for a copy of it, till 1997, when I bought a video of it in New York! (You'll appreciate my singlemindedness to find it,when I say I'm from Australia! Ha,ha.)

My impression of Deneuvre was molded by this movie! I was so surprised to see her other earlier roles- what a contrast. I sometimes seek out the DVD on Amazon. Disappointed not to have found yet. Will take another look. Such an unsung classic!

there is something about movies from this era that makes the romance come to life. I was born too late to live through this time and I spent most of my adult life trying to find this kind of romance in my life. Now in my 50`s and found it with my second wife (first one dumped me cuz I don`t make enough money). Love comes to those who wait with a pure heart.

From the 3:32 mark, to the hockey scene at the very end, about as poignant and beautiful a 30 seconds a scene as I could imagine, with the start of Bacharach's classic theme.

Don't you hate it when you love a film and it's unavailable except in tiny segments? Catherine Deneuve to me the most beautiful woman in the history of the world and a formidable presence for good; as Depardieu said of her in their work in the last metro, quelle femme! et quel homme! which is Depardieu speak have to love him. When my dog died roughly same time as my husband I truly was lucky to find another dog who fills me with joy and yes she chewed through some of the furniture as a puppy who cares but the 1st puppy toy she still loves is her squeaky frog in evidence in this excerpt.
