Love, love, love the older Chevy's! What memories this brings back. When I was a kid growing up in the '70s, our next door neighbor had three teenage daughters and a 1969 Caprice. In 7th grade, I used to ride to school with them every morning in the Caprice listening to Zeppelin on the 8 track. All my buddies were jealous. I always thought it was because of the girls, but now that I think about it , it was probably because I didn't have to ride the bus and got to rock out on the way to school.....

The interesting thing: carbureted vehicles predominantly powered America, even the world,up through the early 90's. I worked at an independent shop during high school from about 95-97 and we were still seeing some carburetor work. Manufacturers had nearly 100 years of perfecting the carburetor to that point. As long as everything is in good repair, doesn't matter how cold it is outside. Infact I think carbureted cars start faster than EFI cars on cold days. We had a lot of carbureted cars in the family when I was growing up. I don't recall a single instance of carburetor problems causing a break down or causing a car not to start. People usually weren't on the side of the road with a "carburetor problem." A carburetor may get out of adjustment and rubber pieced get hard and cause poor running and drivability but not cause a car to just stop running.
