When you're building a classic, like the 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge attention to detail is critical.
Psychedelic colors, pop art and anti-establishment sentiment were all the rage in 1969. Pontiac's marketers wanted to reach a youthful and extroverted audience, and they figured the best way to grab them was to tap into the deep current of popular culture. The GM A-body cars had been redesigned this year, and the GTO had benefited greatly. Its new look was smooth, integrated and powerful, but it needed more punch to stand above the crowd.
One of those psychedelic in The Judge Package, was Orbit Orange. When the shop needed such an iconic color matched, they turned to De Beer and our line of refinishing products.
So what's your project and how can we help?
My name is Anthony Biancone, I go by AJ I own Valhalla Restoration and Fabrication. It’s a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge it’s one of 618 produced you can only get this color which is Orbit Orange if you got the judge package. We used a Valspar primer colors system awesome product blocks great. The yellow is always been a tricky color cuz you know you take so much for coverage and it actually worked out really well I was on my third coat the day I painted this and I thought I was done. It impressed me I would definitely recommend the DeBeer products to anybody out there. We wound up finding an old sample we send it to the color lab and they were able to reproduce the color for us not just to my liking but my customers liking. Where it came back we did a spray out and he's like that's it that's what I remember any other colors coverage far exceed anything that we've used in the last ten years. And the quality of the clear coat is just phenomenal. This car was done over a year ago any other lines it's phenomenal I'd recommend it to any other shop that's out there.
