(Filmed on 6/6/23). This is the elevator located at 11-15 Douglas Ave, a small office building in downtown Elgin. Yeah apparently, this building has multiple addresses to it. This elevator is an Otis with the older Lexan buttons. It also happens to be an example of an HPA-2000, which is a hydraulic model produced by Otis (was very common in the 70s) with a 2000-lb maximum capacity, an economy COP (one that is mounted on the internal door frame), and most importantly, an edge-lit indicator.
Unfortunately, like it is on most other existing HPA-2000s, the edge-lit indicator is no longer functional. While this elevator seems to be showing signs of its age, it's still a neat old unit. Later in the video, I got questioned by one of the tenants on the 2nd floor of the building for of course, filming the elevator. Not too sure if this encounter with that tenant counts as me being busted since it seemed like he was escorting me out of the building once I arrived back at the 1st floor after he got in the elevator. At the same time, he did not say I could not be recording in this building nor told me to leave. Let me know what you guys think about that in the comments.
