If you had a sunroof in your car 1960s You were a Emperor. If you had an ELECTRIC sunroof in your car in the 1960s You were a Space Emperor But if you had a Hydraulic sunroof on your car in the 1960s You were THE POPE

@@unihillboulder all hidraulic system was made by mercedes to meet the electric functions on other cars but they had electric powered windows before as sunroof ,this also was related of not wanting like Rolls Royce ask permission to citroen to use their hidraulic system but powered windows and sunroof by hidraulic system , i was told to not buy one as only three people alive to fix this system but today maybe none are alive as this was some years ago

The hydraulic operation of the various systems is superior to what we have today. Unreal.

Maybe 10 years ago one night at the Mobil station under the High Line on 14th street, there was a beautiful burgundy Mercedes just like this. His trunk was open and he was a little frustrated. The trunk was hydraulically operated and the system has frozen in the open position. Sometimes a manual system is a better option. It was a stunning car otherwise.

It's like an airplane. Can't believe they were able to implement hydraulics in this. Is the shifter hydraulic by any chance too?

Money was no object with this car Mercedes told their employees to make the best car you possibly can no matter what it costs as a result when it came out in 1964 it was the most expensive car ever built at 25,000 dollars and there is no logical reason why they ran a hydraulic system to power the windows the seats the sunroof and trunk lid

I don’t know about the other stuff. But the reason they gave it hydraulic windows was to make the interior more spacious. Windows motors back then were bulky so by giving it hydraulic windows, it makes the interior bigger
