Hey Mike. Great job. I presently have a 74 t-top. It was garage kept since 86 but is in need of some tender loving care. Cant find anyone who is willing to work on it in my area. Sold my 70 convertible, like a fool, back in 72 when I got married. Wish I still had that. Great work on your 72. Tom, Chesterfield, Va.

Great work Mike. I’ve done a body lift of my vette and your video was my reference to do it right. Again, thanks for this awesome video as I’m close to do the body drop on the chassis. Thanks a million

Mike… a very timely video. I’ve got the same lift so I intend to use your experience as my model for my restoration in another month or so. Thanks for taking the time to document.

I’ve got my Westcoast Engines 383 stroker engine mated to my T-10 trans (new seals and gaskets) all new rubber, bearings and brakes in the front end but I’ve still got pressure washing and painting to do on the frame. It’s been so hot in the Houston area for the last month I really haven’t been willing to work on the frame. Once it gets a little cooler I’ll finish up the frame and remount engine/trans and all the drive shafts. I plan on adding side exhaust so I’ll install that before putting the body back on. I’ve also been trying to source all the parts I need to upgrade the a/c since the engine came with a serpentine belt system with a Holley compressor. Still lots to do but at least I didn’t find any surprises with frame corrosion or other serious mechanical problems.

I’m just beginning my odyssey to resto-mod slash update my ‘79. Considering all plumbing, wiring, and suspension squishy bits are all dry rotted I’m thinking a body lift for access will also allow frame inspection and a complete repaint of the ultra oxidized formerly red body.

mike , ive watched a lot of this process, what are the double lines running back on the brakes on the left side?
@mikelandwehr-corvette

It has been awhile, but as I recall the left side has the rear brake line and the fuel tank vent. The right side has the fuel supply and fuel return. Hope that helps!

Hi Mike, what kind of body hoists do you use or recommend?
@mikelandwehr-corvette
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Barrie, I used my car lift to raise the body off the frame. It's a Auto Lift AL2-9K-ACX 9,000 lb. Asymmetric 2 Post Car Lift, which I purchased from Greg Smith Equipment. Good luck with your project!

You mentioned in an earlier video that you got the plans for the dolly online somewhere and it worked well, but I can't seem to find those plans. Can you help? I really appreciate it.
@mikelandwehr-corvette

I've scanned the dolly plans into a pdf and would be happy to share, but not sure how to attach a file to a video on KZitem. Others have asked me for them, and the request comes to me differently than a standard reply. I simply attach the file to their request and off it goes. Maybe you can figure out how that's done.

Would it not be a good idea to paint the body while off the freshly restored frame to avoid over spray?
@mikelandwehr-corvette
11 ай бұрын
I did have that conversation with the guy who painted it beforehand. He preferred to have it on the frame. There wasn't any overspray, but the frame did get dusty. I was able to wipe all of it off but it took some time.
@epasternak4206

No, always paint is mounted to the frame and all four tires on the ground. Reason= let the entire body settle plus making certain all body gaps are perfect .
