My dad had the EB3 back in the 70's. He traded it for a 74 Precision which I still have. I'd rather have the EB3.

The slotted headstock gives better pitch angle and more tension off the back of the nut. This results is much greater projection of the instrument. Between that and the nylon saddles, thing sounds way better than other bass guitars. What a GEM!

It doesn’t give more tension. Think about the physics of this.

It looks like an EB-3L! These sounded amazing with round-wounds! They’d tear your head off!

I still have my EB-3 since early 70s. Yes, it was heavy back then and seems even heavier now! Fine instrument!

It is a convenient coincidence that Greg would finish this demo with "All rRght Now" by Free. The song also made its way onto tonight's upload from the Trolgy's Guitar Show.

The 4th position is the neck pickup with an inductor, is not all the tone rolled off, the inductor enters in the circuit cutting mids and boosting lows and decreases the impedance so boost the signal, this inductor also appears on the ripper and the es345 guitar

Greg? Kalamazoo? Dave West had one of these EB-3s in white. He used it to torture test the early West amps, the Grandes and Fillmores. He sold it to Rob DeLagrange, later played with Terrible Ted. Those were fun days in Michigan rock and roll, Heavy Music, eh? Ha! Am I wrong, the 'Side Door' was in Kzoo and the 'Brass Monkey' was in Grand Rapids, the 'Silver Dollar' in Lansing. Ever play those dumps? Thanks,

My first "real" bass was a '68 EB-3 I purchased in '73. A few years later, swapped it for a custom color Ric 4001 (which I still have). But, the thumpin' rumble of the Mudbucker was calling to me - so just recently found a mint '71 slot head in cherry. It is wonderful... now I have everything to cover just about any bass tone (the EB can do the P-bass thing if you dial it in.) Great demo, Greg! BTW - I thought the slotted head stock was dropped in '72. Is this an early '72?
