I grew up close to Baldwin Motion and would once in a while walk past the shop as a young fella eye balling the cars up on the lifts and in the bays. It was a treat and even better when they were tuning them up with a roaring wack of the throttle. They had a great reputation!

A Z28 converted by Motion to phase 3 454. Motion would usually convert SS 396 cars to 427 or 454. They would do whatever you paid for. You order the car through Baldwin Chevrolet. Chevy builds the csr, delivered it to the dealer and then Motion converts/ customizes it to exactly whst you want/ paid for.

I put a set of side pipes on my 69 SS when I re did it a few years back. Went with US Indy wheels instead of the Cragars and it still has a Kraco stereo in it that actually works and plays tapes. Lemans Blue with white vinyl interior. My Dad sold the original 396 for scrap while I was in the Marine Corps so I went with a 383 auto set up. Every time I see the clutch pedal down there I think about the time my clutch came through the floorboard once, Yikes!

Great looking Z28... There were a few GM dealers back in the day, that had a high performance image, such as Berger, Fred Gibb, and of course, Yenko. Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge ( which was in Chicago) was a hot dealer for high performance Mopar's, competing with the likes of Baldwin Motion.

Don Yenko was considered to be Chevy's answer to Carroll Shelby, as he raced the cars and built them. Pontiac had Royal in Detroit, and Myrtle in NY doing 428 Firebirds, while Ford had Tasca in RI, which created the 428 CJ. and Randall AMC in AZ did 401 swaps on Gremlins too.

@@jamesweaver1738 that's a way to put it, like how AMG is for Mercedes Benz and Dinan for BMW.
