Had two of these beauties, both with the Buick V8 engine. A saloon (Bordeaux Red), and a coupe (Silver Birch over Burnt Grey.) They were HUGE inside, and always turned heads. a "Sedate" drive around town, but once on the motorway, GREAT cruisers. People tended to get out of your way.

For the affluent who didn’t need to try too hard. Understated and with just that little turn of speed. Jags were just that little bit vulgar. The Alvis TF from a few years before was even better but just too expensive then and now. Yep a P5B V8 was pretty cool. Suits you, Sir.

@@spartacusvikinga That may be so, but they were first designed under the BMC umbrella, prior to the BL amalgamation, which is when things started to go wrong. Until that point, Rover was a prestige marque. Then the cost cutting began.

These were great cars, very well engineered (albeit to a conservative concept) and of high quality manufacture. Parents of a mate of mine had a P5 3 litre Mk III and then one of these. The 3 litre was full of character to which the P5B added performance. This looks in generally good condition, but the leather seems a bit over-restored to my eyes.

A nice example but agree regarding the interior. Too bright, lost the patena of age. I'd buy it at the right price though as looking for a p5b, but this needs a little work to make right.

the original 3500 v8 - the P5b was the first to use the Buick derived alloy v8 - successive discos, MG's, TVR's, Land rovers all rejoiced in the same basic motor. I have two of these and am really enamoured of them.

Pedantic I know, but it's a 3.5 litre, not a 3500. Yes, same engine, but different nomenclature. The P6b was a 3500. This is not a great example: there is poor panel fit / uneven gapping (signs of a bodgy repair after a prang); the seats have been poorly over-"restored". Why wasn't the lid of the front picnic tray lifted - were the tools missing? I love the P5 and P5b, but wouldn't touch that one with a 40-foot barge pole.

Though newer that the modern Rover 2000 model from 1968, to an American this car looks like something from the '50s. Was this car built during the British Leyland years? If so, I wouldn't give five cents for it reliability. Which is too bad because it's a comfy looking old guy's car.
@mr-wx3lv

It was built between 1958-67 as a 3 litre str8 6, and then they put the Buick 3.5 litre from 67-73 ish... it wasn't particularly reliable. Although the V8 made it better.
