I was a Teesside Tigers and Cradley Heath fan. Loved Frank Auffret and Bernie Persson, both all out action style riders and great entertainers. Great days

I remember a few packed crowds from my childhood. And one from my adulthood. They were all big events at King's Lynn, the last of which being the SWC in 2011. But even then, I'm sure the numbers weren't even close to this.

Boy am I glad there’s so much of this available to watch. Yeah sure it may be getting on to 50 years ago but I find it so much more exciting to watch than what we get to see now, sorry.

Them were the days, not one start at that meeting would be accepted these days, but the racing seemed tighter and Dave Lannings comments on Ivan Mauger not putting his foot down was interesting because, as I understood it, not putting your foot down in the style of 'leg trailing' was the norm and I think it was Chris Morton in the late 70's early 80's who was so small hardly ever put his foot down and of course riders today like Smarzlic don't either. Back then, to Dave Lanning it seemed like magic and earned his comments.

One thing I do not like about modern speedway is all the hand touching/congratulating between riders after races. When did that crap creep in?
@davewallis

What I notice watching the racing is how much 'drive' the bikes have round the corners, compared to these days; a lot to do with the shallow tread on the tyres today.
