I'm a Ric fan and user since 1978. Loved Rics then and love them now, but I gotta say, those DiMarzio pickups sounded incredible on that Ric. Butt-ugly, yes, but I thought they brought that bass to life. I'm down to two Rics, a '78 4001 and a '79 4002 (yes, 4002...original owner) and they'll always stay stock with the exception of a brass nut on each bass...still, I was pleasantly surprised at the sound of those DiMarzios. One man's opinion...

Well done that man. Although I notice the bridge pick guard has a full width cut away. Mine had the guard at full height, and I only took it down on one side on the front face. But great job

I got one of the new ones for it as it helps to be able to get the action down as low as I like it. I have the old one as well! Thanks for the kind words and for watching!

Where do you get to Rickenbacker pick-ups and electronics from?

EIther Reverb, ebay or at times Rickenbacker itself.

Oh also? What is your opinion on the 83, 4003. I’m thinking about getting one from a guy I know, and I don’t know if it’s best to get that one or wait and buy a new one. He said he bought it and played it for five years and it sat under his bed for about 30. The strings were beyond dead, but I believe it could be saved with a little TLC.

I would need to see pics of it to tell you much about it.
