My high school car was a 75 Nova and I have looked forever for one to tinker with! I had N50 15's on the back E60 14's on the front with the 262 underneath the hood... but back to looking for one....there are none out there! you can find the rust piles that are left from them. Great video and thank you for sharing!! you got to talking about the motor feeling bigger, I changed out the intake and put a 4bbl on here and she would fly, man the memories....

I know that yellow. Back in the late 70's I owned a 1973 Vega. The front fenders rusted out (yes boys and girls, back in the day, if you lived north of the mason/dixon line, you could watch Vegas rusting). I replaced them with fenders from a Canary Yellow vega parts car. My very yellow fenders on my very green Vega made it easy to find in mall parking lots. That Nova sure looks like an ex-government vehicle. Long time since I heard a car go by sounding more like an air hose than a motorized vehicle :-) Strangely it brings back good memories.

From Leo: Power steering was included when you got a V8. The automatic was a separate option. I ordered my red 1976. Walked in wanting a base 6 cylinder car, drove out with a V8 Auto, PS, PB, Air conditioned car with AM/FM. Salesman talked me into a better car, and he was right, it was nicer. Mine was a full wheel cover car, where I lived people would steal any styled wheels anyway. Was a great car. I wish I still had it.

@@janeames1513 I knew a guy who tuned and modified a 235 Blue Flame 6 and got 400 hp out of it. hydraulic lifters, three Rochester 2 barrels, extra heavy valve springs, race tuned headers, custom intake manifold, lumpy long duration cam , and last but not least, electronic ignition and a tremic 6spd. This setup was put into a hot rod and it accelorates like a bat out of hell. I am a gear head myself and know from experiance that sometimes, there IS a replacement for displacement: supercharging, tuning, and nitrous.

Johnny Knockinrod You are thinking of the 265. This was one of the smaller v8’s that had a short run in the 70’s. The original sbc, the 265 was replaced with the 283, then the 327. Then they made a later 327 with larger main journals. It got a longer stroke and became the 350.

Besides a 250 straight six with a 3 in the tree, that was pretty bare bones. 4.3 liter V8 was used into the early 90's. It was a weird variant of a motor as the V6 4.3 was better IMHO. Nice find for an older person's car.🏁🏁🏁

I think the 262 V8 was basically only in dealership "Loss Leader" cars. The extremely cheap stripped car that they advertised to get you in the door. Then they hard sell you on a loaded car that cost a lot more. That is a perfect car for the Hot Rod Power Tour.
